OKC Comets 7 – Sacramento River Cats (Giants) 4
Starting pitcher Landon Knack went 6.2 solid innings, allowing two runs and five hits, with two walks and five strikeouts. It’s the third time in five games a Comets starter lasted at least six innings after it previously had not happened since May 18.
Heckuva start last night for Landon Knack!
6.2IP 5H 2R 5Ks 2BB…101 pitches, 64 strikes. One of his walks he gave up was to the last hitter he faced as he was reaching his limit, and the other came in the bottom of the 2nd after a 7-pitch at-bat. He induced a double to the very… pic.twitter.com/i7qemQbdrf

James Outman hit the team’s third grand slam of the season in the ninth inning for his 19th home run of the season and third of the current series. Outman finished 2-for-5 and has now collected an extra-base hit in six straight games, going 12-for-28 (.429) with four home runs, three doubles and 15 RBI…Outman also scored a run in an 11th straight game. Plus those balls would not drop in front of Outman in RF.
GRAND SLAM! 🤯

Hunter Feduccia homered for the second time in five games and finished 2-for-4 with a walk.
Hunter Feduccia went BIG FLY for AAA OKC to give them a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th, a lead they added to and never gave back.
Feddy is hitting .297, OPS of .872, and continues to be a great player. Mad Respect! #dodgers pic.twitter.com/2fJNhtlxz3

Elijah Hainline impressed in his second start at Triple-A, going 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, run and two stolen bases.
Been tellin' ya' for a while now how well Elijah Hainline impacts the baseball. Of course, he had been with Rancho, and their statcast data is not made public, so that was an eye test. Well, now that he's in AAA, at least until Freeland gets back, that data is available.… pic.twitter.com/izuW1Umww4

Tulsa Drillers 6 – Frisco RoughRiders (Texas) 1
Chris Campos allowed just the one unearned run to break his 15-inning scoreless streak. He completed six-plus innings on Saturday and has not allowed an earned run in 17 straight innings pitched. He also recorded seven strikeouts and picked up his fifth win of the season. Campos’ Final Line – 6.0 IP, 1 unearned run, 6 hits, 2 BB, 7 K.
Chris Campos is throwing an invisible ball right now for AA Tulsa. Dude turned in ANOTHER pretty awesome start last night in Frisco.

Following his three-hit game on Friday, Kendall Simmons continued his hot stretch against the RoughRiders by propelling the Drillers to the lead in the first inning, with a three-run homer.
Kendall Simmons had ANOTHER multi-hit game for AA Tulsa, and launched his 2nd home run of the series, also 2nd since joining the Drillers.

John Rhodes followed Simmons’ lead with his solo blast in the second inning to give Tulsa a 4-0 lead.
John Rhodes had a couple of hits last night, including his 5th home run of the season. Rhodes has hits in back-to-back games for the Drillers.
The Dodgers picked him up in the off-season in the AAA phase of the Rule 5 draft. He plays mainly 1B, but was the DH last night.… pic.twitter.com/ZVjFGzvj6t

Ronan Kopp closed out the game by retiring all six batters he faced, two on strikeouts. Kopp has not allowed an earned run in his last 16.1 innings across his last 12 appearances. Since his last earned run on May 16, Kopp has lowered his ERA from 6.57 to 2.83. A lot of that success can be a result of his increased control. His BB per by month:
- April – 9 BB in 6.2 IP
- May – 9 BB in 10.2 IP
- June – 4 BB in 11.1 IP
Ronan Kopp might be throwing as well right now as he has since he's become a professional. He threw another scoreless outing last night for AA Tulsa, has his ERA down to 2.83, and has 45 Ks in 28.2 innings.

Fort Wayne Tin Caps (San Diego) 2 – Great Lakes Loons 1
Maddux Bruns started, and completed 3.1 innings, throwing 68 pitches, 36 for strikes (52.9%). He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, but 3 BB and 2 HBP. He did have 4 K. Very few have ever questioned Bruns’ stuff. The complaint for him has been his total lack of control. It was horrid when he first came into professional ball, and while improved, still not good at all. 52.9% strikes is just not good. He is 23 and still in A+. As the hitters become even more plate disciplined as he moves up, there may not be as many whiffs.
Bruns has had an injury every year. His IP high is 97.0 in 2023. He has not cracked 50 IP in any other season. His trade value is nil right now, so I expect the Dodgers will continue to hold onto him, and perhaps convert him into a reliever.
#Dodgers LHP prospect Maddux Bruns today:
3.1 IP

1 ER
3 BB
4 K
11 whiffs

Tulsa had 4 hits including doubles by Kendall George (5) and Zyhir Hope (18).
San Jose Giants 12 – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 4
San Jose has continued their mastery over the Quakes. Not much positive in this one. All four Quakes pitchers allowed runs. Two batters had multi-hit games, with only 1 XBH. Niko Perez went 2-3 and Victor Rodrigues went 2-4 with his 6th double.

Today is the end June for the MiLB players, and their 1st half has just completed. I am working on 1st half notes of significance. July figures to be a busy discussion month with updcoming draft, July 13-14. The trade deadline, ending July 31 at 6:00 PM ET.
I have an appointment at Retina Specialist’s in Pueblo tomorrow. It will last a couple of hours. I won’t be able to post tomorrow at all. It will be a few days before I can post a new story. Game is in a rain delay. Henriquez activated and optioned to AAA. Garcia DFAd and Davis called up.
I turned the game off when Rojas came in to pitch. I’ve seen enough of that act. I see we scored 4 in the 9th to make the game look closer than it was.
Nice to see Freddie get 3 knocks including a homer but Lugo shut us down despite his 5 walks. He’s kind of a throwback pitcher with his changing of speeds and sequencing, getting outs without the big fastball.
It looked like Doc was dedicated to seeing that Casparius complete 4 innings, no matter what. I guess I would to if I planned on using Garcia after him.
I don’t see the big fuss in the announcer’s booth with Karros and Nelson making a big deal about Ohtani having to leave the mound and go hit or visa-versa. Didn’t he have to do the same thing for 6 years while a two-way player for the Angels?
So he has to quickly put on his batting armor or take if off to go pitch. Big deal. There’s talk about him moving out of the lead off spot, like that would make a difference in his preparation to hit in the 3rd instead of the 1st? If I’m not mistaken, Will Smith and Dalton Rushing have to do a very similar thing to hit.
Geez where do they come up with these mysterious concerns? Just more talk.
WTF did we get Luis Garcia, anyway?
So they could DFA him just to bring up Noah Davis.
From X:
Chase Harlan received some buzz around the 2024 MLB draft, and it looks like that that hype might start building once again for the third baseman.
Since June 1st, Harlan is slashing .321/.371/.696 with 5 HR and 6 2B across 14 games. Most encouragingly, Harlan has cut his K rate down to 17.7. He looks like a potential 40 Hit, 60-70 power bat and his contact profile is very exciting, as is his defense at 3B.
And again why do the Dodgers insist on an opener so Wrobleski doesn’t have to face the top of the order three times? Now Wrobleski is standing around in the bullpen not knowing how long the first inning is going to last.
Wrobo should be penciled as the SP when his spot comes up
again. Don’t need the “opener” and perhaps he should take May’s spot in the rotation and May to the pen.
Wrobleski has earned the right to start, and the Dodgers should just do away with the opener for him. I am looking for Emmet Sheehan taking May’s spot in the rotation.
Agree. I would give May a couple of more starts and hope he does well so we can trade him at the deadline.
I don’t know, but wow Wrobo has pitched a fantastic 4 so far!
make that an incredible 6ip. Wow
Betts zero for four today and now batting .250 w/.716 OPS with slugging over 100 points below his career average. He has HOF credentials in RF; not at all at SS. Is it time to move him back? Just asking for opinions not criticism.
Correlation? Causation? Chance?
Whatever the relationship, he’s not moving back.
I think it has a lot more to do with his illness to start the year where he lost a lot of weight and strength. I expect a more normal 2nd half from Mookie. Just need him in October
Good point.
Perhaps Max can introduce Mookie to his optometrist?
Really turning into an embarrassment of riches
Come trade deadline:
Rushing has to be the main offer.
Wrobo has got to be a trade piece with good value Knack a little less.
So will one of the young OF (AA and below)
Ward probably has small value. Would Outman be moved? Im doubtful.
But what would the Dodgers be hunting or looking for?
Another back end bullpen piece
I don’t think we need anything. I would consider trading May because I believe he is a FA next year. Then I would consider trading Glasnow or Snell during the Winter. Try to get first and third base prospects to replace Muncy and Freeman when they are done.
Luis Robert Jr to the IL. Big surprise, heh.
Jeff D. asked – “And again why do the Dodgers insist on an opener so Wrobleski doesn’t have to face the top of the order three times?”
Jeff, obviously you didn’t hear about the new rule instituted by MLB for bullpen games with Wrobleski as the “Bulk-Guy”. I understand now the Dodgers use of an Opener, in front of Wrobleski. It actually started his last outing with Dreyer giving up a run and today with Trivino.
It’s the new “Handicap System” in MLB to create even more parity. A Socialist inspired idea modeled after golf and bowling.
The idea is to give the opposition a run or more in the first inning (depending on the opponent’s record), before Wrobleski goes in and puts up zeroes for 6 or 7 innings, on 3 hits. Fortunately, Wrobleski will not get to lead a bullpen game against the White Sox, starting Tuesday. In that situation, the White Sox will get a 5 run handicap lead off the opener, likely Kike.
Karros explained the reasoning for the Handicap System. He stated during the game today that the Royals have Caglione and Vermin on their team and we have Shohei and Mookie on ours.
Holy shit. Even if you feel that way, why would you say that on the air? Talk about disrespecting the opponent, Eric.
Joe Caglione looks nothing like the two-way college World Series dude he was in the CWS, last year for Florida. He looks terrible at the plate. Maybe rushed by the Royals, as the fan based clamored for his debut?
I have the KC Monarchs 1947 White cap with the red KC on the crown with red and blue piping. The classic Sachel Page hat. So I’m watching and wondering why the Royal’s tribute hat is black with yellow letters.
Stephen Nelson explained that it is because the Monarchs bus stopped for gas and the attendant refused to let the players use the restroom until Jackie Robinson made him aware of how much gas money he would miss if the fueled up elsewhere.
Neat story but I had no idea what that had to do with the black and yellow cap? Finally it dawned on me that the black one was their “road” cap and the bus was on the road. So the Royals wore that one today. How vague can you get?
My doctor has advised me that if I have to listen to Karros and Nelson one more series, my blood pressure will spike to dangerous levels and my brain will turn to Tapioca.
I despise the Stephen Nelson-Eric Karros announcing duo.
Jac Caglianone was big-time rushed to MLB. He was crushing it in MiLB, and should have stayed there longer. But the Royals needed some offense, and Caglianone was their best option at the time.
I forgot to mention that the Royals had a nice pre-game, first pitch ceremony that we got a brief glimpse of, feature two elderly black gentlemen dressed in authentic jerseys. What a great tribute. I can only assume they were either surviving players or sons of legendary Black players.
Naturally, their names were never mentioned by Nelson or Karros so I have no clue who they were honoring.
Well, it was bound to happen.
Old friend Austin Barnes has been signed to a minor league deal by the Giants. I’m sure they’ll bring him up in a week or two.
The knowledge he has about the Dodger pitchers and hitters will, by itself, be worth whatever they’re paying him.
Good for him!
Lets hope he does well.
Lets also hope the Dodgers keep this run of play going!
