Wonder if we’ll see Frasso this year.

I think so.

I also think:

  • We will see Outman up in the majors
  • We will see Freeland up in the majors
  • We won’t see Ward
  • This is Kershaw’s last year (the all-star selection made me think this)

Why do I think Fernandez was called up?

Fernandez, to me, is pure short-termism. 40 fodder until a player comes off the 60 IL.

Frasso is more a medium-long term asset.

Well Houston took our ass to the Woodshed.
I really like Sheehan. I thought he looked great especially so early back in the action. His command was impressive. Even his chase-pitches were well placed with competitive locations and he threw strikes when he needed. This pitches were very well located around the edges of the zone. I saw one pitch down the middle all day. His command of the top of the zone with the fastball was great, as was the change up. He got some swing and miss on the change.
A good change up is a pop-up pitch. Many think it’s a ground ball pitch and that’s not true. He got some weak pop-ups on that pitch.
I thought he pitched great and with some offense, it was a winning effort.

Can somebody explain why, after Sheehan, in a tie game, high leverage situation, Doc goes with Will Klein in the 6th?? We ended up with Vesia that inning anyway after 2 hits, a walk and a run too late?

Some serious leather in the infield. Great play down the line by Miggy, great play in the 6 hole by Mookie and 2 super plays up the middle by Kim. As always, Freddie’s a Net over at first.

I’m warm to Jeff’s idea of Edman commanding center, Teo in left and Pages in right when Tommy gets back. Rojas at 3rd, Mookie and Kim in the middle.
Watching Ohtani hit right now is more irritating than fun.
Tuesday’s match up with the Brewer’s should be especially fun. Kersch goes up against young Jacob Misiorowski. Jacob outmatch Scenes in his last outing and sits at 100 all day with some wicked breaking shit. He is a future start if his arm stays attached.

I agree with all of the above Phil.

I.ve been a Sheehan fan since he first came up. His improved change up is going to be huge for him. He’s never been afraid to attack the hitters. Most of his pitches are competitive and lead to a lot of swing and misses.

Ever since Kim was called up and then had unexpected success I’ve been on the Kim at 2B everyday along with the OF of Teoscar (LF), Edman (C) and Pages patrolling RF. Defense is important and these position changes provide a big upgrade.

Roberts selecting Klein was a head scratcher. I guess he was giving Klein an opportunity to shut down the Astros which he did with two quick outs. Then it all went to shit with four straight batters reaching base and allowing the Astros to take the lead. I can understand the reasoning, but the timing may not have been correct with the Dodgers finally having a chance to avoid a sweep after being clobbered in the first two games.

With Muncy, Teoscar, and Edman out and Freeman and Mookie in slumps it wasn’t a surprise the offensive was going to struggle yesterday. Even with a journeyman pitcher such as Gusto.

With so many older players the Dodgers need to get some of these veterans off their feet for a few games. If Edman is injured then take the time to get him right. Same with Freddie and Teoscar. Even being swept the Dodgers have a 7 game lead over the Padres and Giants. Give Outman, Ward, or Freeland a few games to allow the veterans to heal and get ready for August – October.

When is the Conforto experiment going to stop? Go with the OF suggested above.

Carry on.

Don’t worry about thirdbase. Since we have no pitching and Freeman Betts and Teosco dont hit no need to worry about thirdbase. Houston just socked us in the mouth… dodgers do need help pitching wise and another bat with Muncy out 2 months. And now Houston isn’t scared of us. Here is a easy fix down in Anaheim. There’s a guy named Taylor Ward plays LF plug that guy right in the everyday lineup next theres a starting pitcher in Anaheim name Tyler Anderson wouldn’t he be much better then these bullpen games or Cassperius and Wobione. And there right down the road maybe they have a thirdbase man too.

Please swap May for Pepiot. Sure, other players would be allowed to be involved.

Saw an article suggesting May for McMahon.

Just my silly opinion, but people need to start valuing valueless bylines and articles accordingly.

MLB Draft Overview – 2025

Now it the time I start paying close attention to the 2025 MLB Draft on July 13 and 14th.
A quick review of the rules:
The first six picks in the 2025 MLB Draft were determined by a lottery, with the remaining non-playoff teams slotted in reverse order of their regular season winning percentage.
Playoff teams are then slotted in based on postseason finish, with the World Series loser picking before the winner.
There are 20 rounds and 615 selections.

The top 10 rounds carries a slot value (listed below) and the individual amounts added together get each team’s total bonus pool.

Pick values have risen 4.8% for 2024.
Washington won the Draft Lottery despite only the fourth-best odds to do so, getting the No. 1 selection and the $11,075,900 slot value that comes with it.
The Mariners came in 3rd in the lottery but have the most Bonus Pool money with $17,074,400
The Dodgers’ bonus pool is $9,031,300; their 2nd highest pool in 14 years.

The slot money applied to the top 10 rounds. Bonuses dropped fast in 2024.
#1 is at $10,570,600. 10th pick at $5,953,800 a drop of 4.6 million in 10 picks.
First rounders will make at least 2 million. The number falls to less than 1 million usually for picks into the early 3rd round.
Slot money for the last pick in round 10 was $178,000.

Picks in Rounds 11 to 20 don’t come with assigned slot values, though any money spent over $150,000 for those players will come out of the bonus pool.

Some highly regarded prospects will get over $150K to keep them out of college; but not many. I counted 3 players who signed in 2024 for over that figure, most notably 18 rounder (550 pick): Sterling Patrick, LHP, South Hills High School (CA) – with a sore arm. Signing bonus: $347,500. That’s about late 5th round money. Last I saw he was on the ACL roster. I’m sure somebody knows more about that status of Sterling.

Round / Pick / slot $
1 / 40 / $2,443,600
Comp A / 41 / $2,386,900
2 / 65 / $1,349,100
3 /104 / $737,000
4 /135 / $544,000
5 / 165 / $407,300
6 /195 / $317,200
7 / 225 / $250,300
8 / 255 / $211,700
9 / 285 / $196,000
10 / 315 / $187,300
Totals $9,031,300
