They teased us. They spent a lot of money in the offseason improving a Championship team. At least that was the idea. They won their first 8 games and looked like they were going to just dominate the league. 116 wins? No problem. The record would fall to this collection of ballplayers. Then a weird thing happened. Winning became a little harder. Players underperformed and some got hurt. Their two big pitcher signings struggled out of the gate, and then both, Sasaki and Snell, were on the IL before you knew it. Glasnow joined them. All of a sudden, they were using Knack and Wrobleski to go along with Yamamoto and May. May was inconsistent. Yoshi wasn’t getting much run support.
Mookie who became ill on the trip to Japan, lost a lot of weight and was not his normal self. Always a better hitter in the second half, he came out of April hitting just .250. Michael Conforto after a good first week in LA was hitting just .150 when May rolled around. There are a lot of reasons why this team has underachieved. The one thing I will say is that they have not used any of them as an excuse. To a man, they all have said then need to play better.
Mistakes have not only taken place on the field of play; there have been some missteps by the front office also. In my very humble opinion, they have given Michael Conforto more than enough time to get better, and he hasn’t. Now they are basically stuck with a non-productive outfielder who is not that good defensively and has not been clutch all year. His spot in the batting order is pretty much an automatic out.
With him and Teo manning the corner spots, defensively this team is not very good. Pages, although he has improved some as a center fielder, still makes some very unwise decisions out there that help the opposing team to take extra bases and set up runs. It is still my contention that they should have targeted a true centerfielder at some point in time. Not sure what was really available at the deadline, but a CF who can cover a lot of ground would have been nice. Pages is better suited for right. Teo is just not that efficient as a right fielder, no matter how much more comfortable he might feel there. He simply does not cover enough ground.
Since their 8-0 start, the Dodgers are 70-61. That my friends is not championship baseball. They are 0-2 in September after a 15-13 August and a 10-14 July. In July they scored 91 runs, the only month they scored fewer than 131 all season. They were outscored by 23 runs. This team, as constructed today, will not go very far in the playoffs. They got Kim back but have only used him as a sub. Edman might be back by the next homestand, and who knows when Max will be ready.
They seriously need a spark of some kind. I have no clue why Justin Dean is still on the team. His speed is being wasted on the bench and seriously, could he be any worse than Conforto has been? Freeland and Dean will no doubt be the ones sent down when Max and Tommy are ready. But unless this team shows some fire and soon, their chances of getting past a wild card round, especially if they face someone like the Mets, is getting slimmer every day.
MiLB GAME SUMMARY REPORTS
Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Houston) 7 – OKC Comets 3
Yet another organizational depth pitcher, Kyle Funkhouser, started for OKC. In 4.0 IP, Kyle allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, but 4 BB and a HBP. 2 BB in the 2nd led to a run and a 1-0 lead.
Down 1-0 in the 4th, with one out, Max Muncy, Ryan Ward, CJ Alexander, and Austin Gauthier drew successive 1-out walks for the tying run. A Noah Miller ground out scored the 2nd run.
Sugar Land tied it up in the 4th after a HBP, single, and Sac Fly off Funkhouser.
OKC took the lead in the 5th with an Esteury Ruiz HR (13).

In the 5th, Garrett McDaniels relieved Funkhouser. He struck out the side, but that was surrounding a BB, and 2 singles, scoring the tying run.
In the next four innings, OKC got 2 BB and 2 singles from Tommy Edman and Chuckie Robinson, spread out, and not scoring. Sugar Land was held scoreless to the 9th, and then Bobby Miller entered. He got 2 quick outs, but then allowed a single, 2 BB, and then a walk off grand slam HR. Miller threw 24 pitches, 11 strikes.
Tommy Edman went 1-4 and Max Muncy was 1-2 with a BB in a rehab start. They both are reported to report to LAD next week. Muncy did have a throwing error.
OKC had 5 hits, with no OKC batter having more than 1. Ruiz hit the HR (13) and Gauthier hit a double (19). The other three hits were singles. OKC was 0-5 wRISP.
Wichita Wind Surge (Minnesota) 2 – Tulsa Drillers 0 – Game 1 – 7 innings
Roque Gutierrez started for Tulsa and gave up 4 singles and 2 runs in the first inning. That was the scoring. Gutierrez and Jerming Rosario shut down Wichita for the rest of the game. Rosario pitched a perfect 2.1 innings with 3 K. Neither pitcher Tulsa pitcher issued a BB.
Zach Ehrhard and Kyle Nevin were the only hits for Tulsa, both singles.
Tulsa Drillers 14 – Wichita Wind Surge (Minnesota) 5 – Game 2 – 7 innings
Jackson Ferris completed 5.1 innings. His walk total was down to 2. He allowed 8 hits, unfortunately 2 of those hits were solo HRs, both in the 3rd inning. His 3rd run came in the 5th on a double and single.
Wichita scored 2 in the 7th off Kelvin Ramirez on 3 walks, a double, and a sac fly.
The Drillers scored 14 runs on 18 hits and 6 BB. Every Tulsa player got at least 1 hit.
- Zach Ehrhard – 3-4, 3 runs, 5 RBI, double (7), HR (3), Sac Fly
- Chris Newell – 3-4, 1 BB, 1 run, double (21)
- Nelson Quiroz – 3-5, 3 runs, 2 RBI
- Eduardo Guerrero – 3-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI
- Kyle Nevin – 2-4, 1 BB
- Taylor Young – 1-2, 3 BB, 2 runs, 2 RBI, double (20)
- 9-19 RISP
Lake County Captains (Cleveland) 4 – Great Lakes Loons 3
Adam Serwinowski pitched another good game. He completed 5.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 BB, and registered 7 K. His one demerit was a 2-run HR in the 4th giving the Captains a 2-1 lead.
Kendall George led off the game with an infield single, stole 2nd, stole 3rd, and scored on the catcher’s throwing error for a 1-0 lead.
GL tied the score in the 6th after Elijah Hainline drew a BB and moved to 3rd on a Joe Vetrano double (18). Kendall George and Josue De Paula followed with walks to force in the tying run.
Evan Shaw, Reynaldo Yean, and Christian Ruebeck pitched a perfect 2.2 innings, and the two teams entered the 9th knotted up 2-2.
Jake Gelof hit a 2-out HR (15) giving the Loons the 3-2 lead.
Unfortunately 25 year old RHRP, Christian Ruebeck, could not close out the game. The first batter he faced in the 9th hit a game tying HR. That was followed by a single, BB, sac bunt, and sac fly, and the walk off 4-3 win. This was a bad loss for GL as it pushed them 1.5 games behind Lake County for the final playoff spot, with 3 games to play.
The bright spot for the Quakes was the 4 stolen bases by Kendall George for 101 on the season.

- Kendall George – 3-4, 1 BB, 1 run, 4 SB (101)
- Joe Vetrano – 3-4, double (18)
- HR – Jake Gelof (15)
Fresno Grizzlies (Colorado) 7 – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 1
Brady Smith started his 4th game for RC and continues to try and ramp up. He got thru 2.2 IP after 48 pitches. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, 1 BB, and registered 4 Ks before Marco Corcho relieved him. Corcho closed out the 3rd and pitched a scoreless 4th.
Jose D. Hernandez hit his first RC HR to tie the score in the bottom of the 2nd.
Dylan Tate and Shawndrick Oduber allowed 6 runs in the 6th-8th innings, on 6 hits, and 2 walks, including a two out 2-run HR off Oduber. Connor Godwin finished the final 1.2 innings without allowing anything else. He did strike out 4.
RC had a total of 4 hits, with Hernandez the only Quakes hitter with 2, including his 1st HR.

The Dodgers are clearly signaling they believe they can flip the switch in the playoffs. Good luck to them.
One thing’s for sure–that switch will remain un-flipped unless or until the FO changes course with Conforto.
Swept by another bad team. What a colossal s.hit show this has become.
Yet still 2 games in front for the division.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2.5 and they were beaten by one of the hotter teams in the league who just happen to have some pretty decent pitchers. Not like the plus 5 ERAs they faced against the D-Backs, who they play again in Arizona during their last road trip. They also face the Giants seven more times, and they have been much better lately.
Skenes is a beast and Snell isn’t really “Snellzilla” … so I can’t say I’m surprised by today’s outcome.
A tiny silver lining: Mookie’s 15th HR, raising his OPS to .701.
This has been the worst offensive performance of Mookie’s career… but over the last 30 days he’s hit to an .836 OPS with a .309 BA and .382 OBP.
In about a week or two, the Dodgers should have Max, Will Smith and Edman back in the lineup.
Snell impresses for about 2 innings and then seems to fall apart. Initially he was hurt by some bloops. But they became blasts as he got deeper into the game. Skenes is a Cy Young waiting to happen. LA really only had a chance to win the first game of this series. Bad baseball cost them that one. Inconsistent with men on base, leaving the bags juiced with no outs? Unacceptable.
Muncy back until the next injury and will he be effective. I guess he can’t be worse n mb much better. Edman can’t hit lefty but mb better than .180-90 Conforto with definitely better d. Smith who knows. Roberts always says a couple of days n they are out for 2 months. Can’t trust anything he says. But, those 3 should bring better defense and better offense. Why was Rushing out last night in favor of a guy hitting .095. We still had a chance until Roberts quit on the game. We better hope we can hold onto the division. Of all teams the Giants are charging hard n we have 7 games with them while the pads play 10 with Colorado n the white Sox.
Edman is a career .254 hitter batting left-handed. That isn’t that bad considering someone like Kike hits just .226 off of righties. Smith will get a scan of his hand. Initially there were no broken bones found. Roberts toes the company line. No team reveals just how bad an injury is until it is obvious the player is going to be out for an extended period of time. But understand this, if Smith has any broken bones or the injury is severe enough for him to miss extended time, LA is sunk. No way they go very far in the playoffs with just Rushing and Rortvedt as their catchers.
As an avid and fervent Dodger fan I really wanted to see a back-to-back WS championship. The post season last year was a lot of fun, and It could still happen but I’m starting to have serious doubt the offense will come through.
In a pressure packed post season where you see the best teams have to offer I don’t see our SP winning many 3-2 or 2-1 games when it appears this years team will have difficulty scoring any runs. Can you turn it on when needed? Maybe.
If they win it all we will forget about Conforto and his horrible offense and if we don’t win it we’ll wonder what will AF in the off season. With the long term deals given to Freeman, Betts, Snell, Yamamoto, Glasnow and Scott I would like to see AF move some of his depth pieces for younger and more and athletic position players who can make this team more agile.
The Dodgers lack a lot of team speed and it’s apparent when you watch the Brewers just how much more athletic and youthful they are.
22 games to go. Now is the time to “flip” the switch and get going. I didn’t watch last night and it appears I didn’t miss much.
All of us are brothers
101 steals. Fantastic by Kendall George! Talking about him is a lot more fun than talking about Conforto.
Aw, but you gave them equal time
I am reminded of concepts I learned in a leadership seminar I attended in college. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is ringing in my head, most details of which sailed away from my memory banks years ago.
“Welcome the concept of “agency” in. Agency is your sense of what you can do and what you think you can do. It is your power to affect your future. Agency takes your desires, make plans, and carries out the actions necessary to obtain them.
Agency is the escalator to self-chosen, higher-level goals and actions. It propels communion, self-development, and self-transcendence, which, in combination, generate the broadest and most meaningful flourishing.”
I touched on this yesterday; it feels to me the core group of this team, has already achieved the ultimate goal of a championship. A few of them have done it twice. Does an agency of winning another exist in this group?
The supporting cast to the starters just hasn’t been all that this year. Sure, injuries can be blamed, and the return of Muncy and Edman certainly could help. But those that need to kick it in gear are those players in the lineup that hit before Muncy and Edman and all of them have already achieved the goal of getting to the top. Can they go back to back? Can any team go back to back?
Trout and Ohtani together didn’t propel the Angels into the playoffs. Not sure what I’m thinking
Badger, this concept very well could be an reasonable explanation behind the play with this current team. With so many veteran players its a possibility of “agency” thinking being a part of their issues. With a younger team that reaches early success I don’t believe this type of thinking would be as prevalent.
Whatever the cause, this season very frustrating for me and many other fans. Some of the moves by the front office have been out of character and head scratching. Roberts’ management of the team has been much of a factor. It’s the uncontrollable injuries and poor baseball fundamentals that have been a major obstacle to any lengthy winning streaks. Finally, the players need to play better to quote Roberts. And, that’s hasn’t consistently happened so far.
I have watched a few interviews lately. U could tell Betts was tired of answering and really frustrated. Freddie was nonchalant like oh well we got some on base. The one that really surprised me was Kershaw. After a disaster first inning to start the series he didn’t seem to be bothered. It’s like ho hum another game. After giving up 5 runs snell was like we can get it going. He acted like there were 100 games left. This team just seems really soft with little drive or determination. I know what should they say. How about I am embarrassed by our play. Show that u care about it.
I recall clearly an interview with Mookie after his scoring sac fly that gave the Dodgers the lead in game #5 of the WS.
When asked what he was thinking before the AB he replied something to the effect “just don’t strike out.” While honest, I was shocked as a superstar he didn’t say something like “get a pitch I can drive and get the run in.”
Small thing but somewhat interesting to me that he didn’t seem to have that “killer instinct” and bold confidence (especially after being successful) of a professional athlete/superstar.
Not overly telling but interesting to me to get a glimpse inside the mind of a big time professional athlete, and what he was thinking when on the biggest stage, at the most crucial part of a game. I would have expected a different response to the question, even if he was thinking “just don’t strike out.”
In that situation a K or pop up would have been a rally killer.
Get a good pitch to hit and hit it hard somewhere. This has been the first rule of hitting since Abner was a minnow. Yet how often do we see these guys, even the best of them, look at fastballs down the middle then chase breaking balls outside the strike zone. If they would simply hit strikes and take balls they would more often than not score enough to win.
As for defensive fundamentals and base running skills, I’ve given up looking for them. This team isn’t built that way. Other teams out there are, the Brewers come to mind, but that’s just not the Dodgers. Slugging and pitching. That’s what drove the payroll up, now it needs to drive the bus to the playoffs.
Swing at strikes and don’t swing at balls. Seems easy. I guess its harder than we think!!
The most compelling thing going on right now is waiting to see if Conforto can get to 400 at bats and raise his season average to .200/.640.
He certainly will get every opportunity.
If Conforto remains the regular left fielder thru the playoffs, AF should be fired immediately after the Dodgers get eliminated from the playoffs.
This team is frustrating to watch I think thwy miss gua from laatvywarclijw Lux Buehler ans Flarethy ans Hudson and Kevin Kiermeier. This team flat out can’t hit ans all we hear is well its necauw qw have ao many guys on the disables list. Hello Ohtani Betts Amith Pages Teo Kike those guys should easily be better then who the Pirates havw and they get swept by them. Very frustrating the hitting and the pitching the evoke team is playing like well as soon as Muncy and edmans show up then we can win games. Where the guys ready in tge minors to play backups ready lo play like other teams have.
Kiermeier is another guy AF landed last mid-seaon who made a positive contribution in the title run. Not as important as Edman, Flaherty and Kopech–but KK had some nice moments.
AF’s fondness for Kiermeier had me thinking that he might go after Harrison Bader, who on defense is kind Keirmeier Lite. Excellent defense to go with about league-average offense.
Instead AF targeted Conforto. Oh well.
Honestly, I hope AF re-thinks this notion that winter deals are cheaper than mid-season deals. In the winter, you really can’t know what you’ll need down the stretch. But of course Conforto, Tanner Scott and Yates evidently seemed like good ideas at the time.
But at the all-star break, the needs become obvious. This season they were obvious because Conforto, Scott and Yates have been so disappointing.
I find myself hoping for a lackluster winter when this season is over. Save the wheeling-and-dealing fireworks for later.
hey Bear, I noticed an error in your post. My apologies, but allow me to correct it for you….
“they have given Michael Conforto more than enough time to get better, and he hasn’t. Now they are basically stuck with a non-productive outfielder who is not that good defensively and has not been clutch all year. His spot in the batting order is pretty much an automatic out. “
Correction: They can easily release Conforto if they want too. He should be immediately released from the organization as I type this.
Hope this helps clear that up.
BTW, they stink.
They could but they haven’t which means they are stuck with him Scott. I see no replacement at AAA or coming off of the IL.
my apologies Bear, but I disagree. Any AA or AAA player could come up, bat .180 and play better than atrocious defense in left field. As an example, Alex Freeland, who has struggled with the bat since being called up, is batting .190. Freeland’s OPS+ is 69, Conforto’s is 76. So no they are not stuck with him, and can easily release him at any moment.
But they haven’t and that is the point. If they felt someone at AAA was a better option, why is he not here?????? Get off of my back and direct your ire where it belongs. Ruiz, who is on the 40-man, is hitting 294 with 56 steals and 13 homers. He could easily replace Conforto. But he is right-handed.
Ryan Ward continues to play left field for the OKC Comets. He’s hitting .293/.945 in 515 at bats.
Obviously he’s just playing out his time in AAA until he can escape the Dodger’s organization and start an MLB career at 27. What a waste.
The Dodgers obviously don’t think he’s worth their time nor does Bear. That seems to be the case for the entire AAA team with a few exceptions
Ward has zero MLB at bats. So we really don’t know if he could be helping the Big Club or not.
But I will bet that given the chance he could beat Conforto’s .192/.627.
But we will never know.
I like Ward. I think he should have been given a shot a long time ago. Obviously, the front office does not agree.
Phil –
I agree completely on Ryan Ward!! Given the Dodger’s performance this season, I too am perplexed as to why he hasn’t been given a shot by AF. If the Dodgers end the season the way they are playing now, I think the Guggenheim ownership is going to have some tough questions for AF to answer on how he has spent their $400M this year….
Ditto.
Yet despite all the poor play, albeit because of injuries, lack of motivation, poor management, RVS, bad roster decisions, Conforto, bad umpires, the wrong batting lineup, Teo getting slow, or Pages base running inadequacies (I could go on), here we are on top of the division by 2 games, 3 with the tiebreaker over SD.
It’s all about confidence, not flicking a switch, and this team as a collective is short of confidence. Individuals are short of confidence, which affects the whole dynamic. When the players get some hits, or the pitchers get some strong performances the whole thing will change. It won’t take much, but it will happen and then you will see a much better and stronger showing, and it could well be that we catch fire at exactly the right time.
Still a long long way to go yet!!
I’m sure hoping to hear a damn good reason why Rortvedt replaced Rushing. I’ve had it with stupid lineups and in game decisions. And I will never buy another jumbo jack for the rest of my life lol
It was a smart move until it wasn’t. Rushing could get hurt late in a game and forced out of that game and that game could be close and winnable. That would not be a good time to bring in a catcher like Rortvedt. So, Roberts thinks let’s get the first game jitters out of the way in a game when the Dodgers only have 3 outs to score 5 runs or go home.
Maybe he just thought the game was lost and since Smith is not going to play again until Monday, he wanted to give Rushing a blow since he will be playing most of the innings against the Orioles.
another example of management giving up on games.
How about this for a reason: the manager gave up on his team and since he is expecting to have Rushing start all 3 games in Baltimore, he thought it was important to rest him for one at bat.
Brilliant move. As is starting Conforto every game in left. We all know he’s going to start hitting like an all star any game now.
Next year team should have Freeman Smith Betts Pages Edman Ohtani Yamamoto SNELL Glasnow Sheehan and maybe Kim but get younger guys that can hit and pitch and stay healthy fill out the team with trades or better free agent signings. Wouldn’t a Cedric Mullins or Harrison Bader be a nice fit to have every day in centerfield or even a Ramon Laureano how about the guy from the Yankees who has 30 homers this year and played for the Padres all those guys would improve this team compared to this year’s outfield and minor league players that came up that can’t hit the ball. So, they will need a leftfielder a centerfielder and a third baseman a backup catcher and some bench players and a closer and one starter so like some ideas who you guys would like to see as a Dodger. Mine I would like to see them get Shane Bieber and Randy Arozarena from Seattle don’t you think they would take Teoscar Hernandez and some minor league guys for Randy. And Shane Bieber would slide in the spot where Kershaw is this year.
Freeman 2 years, Smith 8 years, Ohtani 8 years, Edman 4 years Betts 7 years, Yamamoto 8 years, Glasnow 2 years with a team option for a third, Snell 4 years, Kim 2 years, Pages, cannot be a free agent until 2031 and not arbitration eligible until 2027 are all under contract for more than a year. Teo has two years left on his deal. Bieber has been injured for most of the last two years. He has a team option for next year that no doubt will not be picked up. Arozarena is not arbitration eligible, and Seattle will probably just renew his contract. Why would Seattle even want Teo and his contract? He isn’t going to play right in Seattle or left, that is Arozarena’s spot. Teo is owed almost 42 million over the next two seasons. No way they want a guy who is older than any of their present outfield. You talk about getting younger, but the guys you are mentioning like Mullins, Bader, Laureano are all in their 30’s. And all three are right-handed. Grisham is a lefty, and he is 28 right now. A couple of things, Rushing is going to be Smith’s backup for the foreseeable future. That includes next year. They do not need Shane Bieber, another pitcher with injury issues. I do think they need a CF and Grisham would fill that nicely for one season. There is another issue you are not addressing. After 2026, there is likely to be a lockout, so signing any free agents to long team deals is probably not going to happen unless it is someone like Tucker, but he is going to be very expensive. Scott is their closer. They might get another back end of the bullpen arm this winter, but who can say who that might be. Muncy has a 10-million-dollar team option. You can almost guarantee Max will be back because despite what the fans might think, LA values what he brings for that amount of dollars. They might sign the Japanese player, Murakami, but that is not a given. Bench players are what they are, sometimes you get lucky like they did with Edman last year. But usually, it is some veteran who can give you decent at bats. And who says Kershaw is going to retire?
Watford, I can appreciate your positive and confidant posts each day. Of course, everyone reading and posting here are wanting to see turn things around and lead to a championship.
To me, having only 22 games to start playing consistent, winning baseball is not “a long way to go”. I think that’s why many of us are frustrated with the apparent lack of urgency by the team.
Also, still being in first place by two games over the Padres isn’t a good barometer either. After the Padres traded away almost their entire top 10 prospects for several new players they are 16-15 since the trade deadline. So, given a golden opportunity to shut the door on SD for the division the Dodgers go 15-16 since the trade deadline.
Since June 1st the team is 41-41. That is not a small sample size. It’s half a season. And that’s going to change with the return of Muncy and Edman? I doubt they return and are at the top of their game from the start.
I know it’s not the case, but the Dodgers look like they don’t really give a shit. They are playing uninspiring, boring, sloppy, stupid, and fan unfriendly baseball right now.
Anyway, hoping for the best, but bracing for not so good.
Carry on.
.
Smith will most likely not play in this series against the Orioles. His scan showed no broken bones, but Doc said he will probably not play until Monday against the Rockies.
Ohtani replaces Glasnow as the starter for tonight’s game. Lower back stiffness.
The beat goes on. But when Muncy and Edman come back all hell will break out
The youngest players in MLB for the 2025 season include Jackson Chourio, who is 21 years old, and Jackson Holliday, also 21. Other notable young players are Junior Caminero and Jackson Merrill, both aged 21 as well.
Kendal George will be 21 next month.
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 30 | Run: 80 | Arm: 40 | Field: 60 | Overall: 40
It is not current Dodger-like but for the fun of it, I can imagine George in LF or CF in 2026. He has a short quick swing, I assume, he can bunt, and maybe he can do the Furcal slap. Players with full swings need more time in the minors. Maybe George and his make-contact swings doesn’t.
I don’t know why I am intrigued because I did not care for Juan Pierre. Mostly because of his arm and lack thereof. I’m not a Kim fan either but it could be fun watching the game with those two in it.
100% in favor of it
Poor Rushing, hopefully no structural damage
The Dodgers line-up from #4 on down, have disappeared.
They have disappeared period. U can’t be surprised they have no hitters down there. Conforto, kike, rushing all .200 or below. I thought call was bat to ball n all he does is k. Teo couldn’t hit me n pages looks terrible. Ohtani swinging at everything n hitting nothing. If the Dodgers are unwatchable hershiser is unlistenable if that is a word.
I hope when this season is over the first AF does is trade Glasnow. I don’t know anybody who would take him but pepiot 54 games Glassnow 36.
Scoring from second on wild pitch, don’t know I’ve ever seen that before, 5 hits and 1 run, 0 for 5 WRISP, against a last place club. And Scott once again down the middle with a fastball.
The Dodgers continue to find ways to lose.
Something Willie Davis probably did
Kirk Gibson in 1988
At this point how does it make a difference if Max and Edman continue their re-hab with the big club or in the minors? If they’re well enough to play get them on the roster ASAP and somehow stop this madness we’re watching every night.
Tanner Scott is garbage!
Totally agree. If they have a hangnail they r on the il. If they r able to rehab put them on the roster.
At this point, every Dodgers player undoubtedly KNOWS deep in their hearts that they’re a bad team,..and worse.. they have RESIGNED themselves to this reality. And this losing attitude won’t end until someone within the team lights a fire in everyone’s belly. I mean if you’re going to lose, at least lose going down kicking and screaming and swinging, ..not lose with a wimper flat on your belly ..like this team is doing now. It looks pathetic, and is unwatchable.
Right now, we need to see or read about dissension in the clubhouse, ..or some scuffle between some players or coaches in the dugout during the game.
Just reveal to the world some FIRE, as though losing and poor play bothers them!! Give us fans a reason to care, because right now, there isn’t any.
Wayne, you might be right. Maybe they need a rag ass presence in the clubhouse, Some veteran doing the Jason Hayward or a manager who chews on players and benches bad play.
Yet again, maybe that wouldn’t work in this clubhouse. Everybody’s different. I never was inspired by fireball speeches or ass chewing. Effort wasn’t my problem.
My problem is I was shitty. And that’s what the Dodgers are.
No ass kickin or fiery speeches are going to work with Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Smith, Edman, Kim, Conforto, Teo, Kike and maybe Pages. Maybe some hollering would make the AAA guys that came up, like “hit better”.
Geez, if Doc went off in the clubhouse, the players could point out how many games he’s pissed away.
Had high hopes for Yates and Scott. They are shitty.
I’m out of examples, but the point is, this team is shitty and NO fights and dissension are going to help..
Bench the players that are non productive and it would look like the King and his Court softball team without the King.
Thank god football is back on
Looks like Just another pathetic loss to a losing team, although to be fair the Dodgers will be a losing team soon. Tanner Scott who is an atrocious major league pitcher, blew yet another game. The lineup has multiple mendoza line hitters in it every night.
Im beginning to think that this collapse, this mess is a fireable offense for Friedman and Gomes. They are so arrogant and delusional, I’m close to bringing back my fire Friedman and fire Gomes memes.
Actually , screw it, just do it. Looks like the Dodgers are going to lose every game on this road trip.
Pathetic.
Ownership will not fire AF anytime soon but they probably should do a “deep dive” on the decision making on the off season activity. The trade of Lux, the FA signings of Scott, Conforto, Sasaki,Kim, Yates, Kike, come to mind.
I was fully supportive of the elevation of Rushing to the big club but his offense hasn’t been much better than Barnes. The “bargain basement hunting” for relief pitchers and some position players like Buddy Kennedy is confounding.
Ownership has to be a bit critical when they witness the exuberant spending for some of the talent and it’s not just this year. Don’t forget AF gave CT3 $60 million, Heyward $9 million etc.
AF is probably top 3 in MLB in POB/GM but he should not get a “free pass.”
They got better production from Heyward and his 9-million-dollar deal than they have from Conforto and his 17. He gave them gold glove defense and although he was injured for most of last year, he still hit almost 20 points higher than Conforto is now. And remember he played in 23 for just 750,000. The contract last year was for his performance then. Rushing’s defense the last few games has been porous. At least 3 of those pitches called wild pitches were on him for bad blocking technique.
Don’t look back. SF is six games back. They are going to rattle the cage.
I don’t log at other team blogs, But wonder how Padre fans are feeling?
Probably about as pissed as Dodger fans. Four straight losses to teams with sub .500 records. They still have 6 games left with the Rockies. Freeland threw a gem at them last night. 8 innings 10 Ks no runs.
I was just thinking. What if Barnes and Taylor being DFA’d this season had an effect on the team mentally. Getting rid of two longtime teammates while keeping the terrible LF. The manager continuing to play that LF when there have been better options on the team all season could also have an effect on the team mentally. Taylor, Kike and Outman are all better defensively and aren’t any worse offensively than our current LF.
Taylor wouldn’t have been that much of an improvement. He has been on the IL twice since joining the Angels. Barnes was well respected, and they probably should have kept him instead of bringing up Rushing.
Barnes was looping throws to second
Rushing can’t block pitches or hit.
Barnes couldn’t hit either. It was Barnes inability to throw out anyone that did him in. I don’t think it was a coincidence that ge was let go right after a fame where he could only loop throws to 2nd.
Only 22 games to go before Kike’ starts hitting. 😗
Kike was 1-2 with a walk. Kim struck out on a pitch that was way out of the strike zone. Kike is now hitting .200.
Popular players get released, traded every year from teams. These guys are getting paid millions to play. They have to figure it out
If the Dodgers could have received a good return for Muncy, I would have traded him, as most here know.
Fred, you have been trying to trade Max for years. And I for one am glad AF hasn’t listened to you.
Davey Johnson passed away at the age of 82. Managed LA for two seasons under Kevin Malone. Rushings X-rays showed no broken bones, but he is going to have a scan. LA will have to call up a catcher and that looks like it will be Chuckie Robinson.
