The name Karros and Los Angeles Dodgers are forever intertwined. Eric spent his first 11 years with the LAD as a 1B and former ROY. Now his son, Jared, is making a name for himself, but as a pitcher.
Jared Karros got the call to start the Championship game of the Midwest League East Division Championship. He completed 5.0 scoreless innings on 2 hits, 1 walk, with 6 strikeouts.
Peter Heubeck followed with 2.0 innings, allowing a HR for the TinCaps sole run. He allowed 2 hits in total and registered 2 Ks.
Jack Dreyer entered in the 8th with 2 runners on and 2 out. He struck out the one batter he faced in the 8th. He retired the side in order in the 9th with 2 Ks for a 4 out save.
After only 3 games (2 starts) with GL, Karros had the best game of his professional career to get the series clinching victory. Jack Dreyer who is working his way into some serious consideration for late inning high leverage opportunities. This was his first professional save. 3 Ks in 4 batters faced, and 4 outs.
Both Great Lakes and Fort Wayne had 5 hits apiece.
In the 3rd inning, with 2 outs, Taylor Young singled and scored on a Dalton Rushing double for the first run of the game. In the 4th inning, Griffin Lockwood-Powell led off with a walk. Alex Freeland followed up with a run scoring double, and a 2-0 lead.
Dalton Rushing was the only Great Lakes hitter with 2 hits, going 2-4.
The Loons beat 20 year old (baseball age 19) RHP Dylan Lesko. Lesko is the Padres #4 prospect and #65 top 100 prospect (MLB Pipeline).
Great Lakes Moves On To Midwest League Championship series.
Great Lakes will be facing the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Twins) in the League Championship series. It is a best 2 of 3 games series that will begin in Great Lakes on Sunday. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 9 – Inland Empire 66ers (LAA) 5
21 year old RHP Roque Rodriguez drew the start for the Quakes. Rodriguez was greeted by a lead off triple by Nelson Rada. Rada scored when Ben Goebel reached on an error. Goebel came home on a Cole Fontenelle 2-run HR and a 3-0 lead.
The 66ers scored a 4th run on a walk, balk, SB, and sac fly.
The Quakes found themselves down 4-0 in the bottom of 2nd in the win or go home game. The Quakes sent 12 batters to the plate, and after 4 HRs, the Quakes put up 8 in the inning.
Joe Vetrano led off the 2nd with a HR. Joel Izarra reached on an error, and Jordan Thompson brought him home with a 2-run shot. Kendall George batting 9th in this one, followed with a single. Josue De Paula had a 2 -run HR of his own. Thayron Liranzo followed with a BB and Jake Gelof singled. After a K, Joe Vetrano came to bat for the 2nd time in the innings and slugged his 2nd HR of the inning. This was a 3-run HR and gave RC an 8-4 lead.
A pair of doubles by Jordan Thompson and Josue De Paula scored another in the 3rd.
Liam Doolan followed Gutierrez and pitched a solid 2.2 innings allowing a single run. Noah Ruen followed Doolan and surrendered an unearned run in 1.1 IP.
Garrett McDaniels was called upon to relieve Ruen. He threw 3.0 IP scoreless innings allowing 1 hit, and was given the win in the Division Championship series.
RC Moves On To California League Championship series.
RC will be facing the Modesto Nuts (Seattle) in the League Championship series. It is a best 2 of 3 games series that will begin in Modesto on Sunday. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played in Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday and Wednesday.

OKC had a bullpen game with the first five of six pitchers tossing a 3 hit shutout for 8 innings. The Rainiers scored a pair in the 9th off Ken Giles to end the combined shutout.
It was a 1-0 game coming into the bottom of the 8th when OKC scored 5.
OKC had 11 hits with only Miguel Vargas not getting a hit.

The Drillers knocked out 15 hits including 4 doubles and 3 HRs and broke the 12 game losing streak. All Drillers got at least one hit with the exception of José Ramos.
Ben Casparius started and got through 4 scoreless and hitless innings and a 4-0 lead. In the 5th, Casparius hit a batter, walked a batter, and gave up a single to load the bases with two outs. Ben Harris relieved Casparius with 3 inherited runners needing only one out to get out of the inning. Instead, Harris walked the first two batters he faced, forcing in 2, before getting the final out of the inning.
Antonio Knowles and Aldry Acosta each pitched a pair of innings . Knowles allowed a single, ground out, WP, and another ground out for the Hooks’ final run. Acosta threw 2 perfect innings. Both Knowles and Acosta registered a pair of Ks.
Kody Hoese doubled home a pair in the 1st. Hamlet Marte homered and Yusniel Diaz’s run scoring double put up 2 more in the 2nd.
The Drillers scored 4 before an out was recorded in the 5th including 2 HRs: Imanol Vargas solo and Luis Yanel Diaz’s 2-run shot.

Miller looked great until he didn’t. 3 earned in 5.2. 4.76 ERA. 91 pitches. 58 strikes. Bullpen 3.2 of no runs. Good to see. Outman’s bat woke up late.
Magic number now 2.
DePaula leading off and playing RF. I’d love to see where he is in 2-3 years. Possibly the franchise.
Some really interesting guys in that lineup. DePaula, George, Vetrano and Gelof all show some high ceiling potential.
I don’t know much about Ventrano.
Gelof is a breakout candidate for next year.
Some others include Heubeck, Galiz, Liranzo already broke all the way out!
I would like to have both Gelofs in the Dodger organization.

I don’t know if he jinxed him. But he sure did label him as a can’t miss. I always liked Busch over Hoese. But Mark thought Busch would never be a standout but did think Hoese would be the LAD 3B by 2021.
Nothing wrong with overhyping a prospect. We all do it. Me more than most.

He was drafted this year and is known for his power bat.
As Jeff mentioned above, he hit 2 homers in the same inning last night.
As you can see by the attached video, he’s big and he likes to show his emotions.
He’s going to be fun to watch if/when he gets to Dodger Stadium.

Will Smith did reveal to AM 570 that he did play with a broken rib for a couple months after being hit by STL reliever, Jake Woodford on April 30th, but says he’s 100% now.
Kershaw isn’t. 56 pitches and pulled after 4.

Ho hum. Another West title that has been decided for some time. Congratulations team.
The Wild Card race looks like it could go down to the wire.
The goal now is to stay healthy for the next two weeks.
Speaking of that, is anyone else concerned about Kershaw? He gutted it out, but did not look like himself. One more short outing before the playoffs begin? Maybe two weeks plus before a post season start?
Could be an interesting two weeks. Or, not. Rams play the 9ers today. How might that go? Be prepared to get rid of the ball Stafford.
Seems Kersh will be used sparingly and carefully until the playoffs. Maybe they’ll even rest him and make sure he’s fresher for the PO’S. His velocity should return a bit.
It seemed it took forever for the celebration to get started. In times past, it was bedlam almost as soon as the players hit the clubhouse. Miggy is a real character and jokester. The Latin guys really keep the spirit up. Max seems like a really nice guy. Fun to get a peek of the goings on.
