Extend them all!

Well, the game last night was a humorless laugher. I think these guys can’t get to the layoff quick enough. 3 errors, but all 14 runs were earned. Yarbrough? I blame it on Colorado.

It would appear whoever we end up playing will be playing well. Hope we will be too.

Wong looks ready. I assume he will be on the roster. I believe Roberts wants as much experience behind the rookie pitchers as he can get.

SF. Glad to see both them and San Diego will be watching the playoffs at home. As for this series I would give all the starters Little League innings then hit the showers. I know they will have 5 days off, but I wouldn’t risk injuries.

Some interesting historical numbers being put up. Doesn’t mean much for the October schedule.

Bluto

I’d rather Wong than Peralta, whose power seems to have abandoned him.

let Peralta sit in the dugout while Wong takes his roster spot.

Am I correct in thinking that although the maximum number of pitchers on the roster for the playoffs is 13, there is no minimum? In other words, the team could roster 14 position players and 12 pitchers. With the number of off days in the NLDS, that might be the way they decide to go.

Wong has certainly been effective off the bench since he arrived.

Badger

A few months ago that wouldn’t have made any sense. Today, it does.

It seems clear to me we will be using a lot of pitchers in the playoffs. Hope it works

Would be nice to see OKC win it all. A couple of those guys might end up on the playoff taxi squad.

OhioDodger

Has Ferguson pitched himself off the playoff roster? Has Wong played himself onto the playoff roster?

Very interesting article by Sam Blum in The Athletic today, basically taking Arte Moreno to task for being a penny pincher. He’ll spend on players (something the fans can see) but not on anything else (scouts, analytics tools, facilities, etc.).

Ohtani must be thrilled to be getting out of there, but poor Trout must feel like he’s in prison. Couldn’t win anything with him and Ohtani and now it’s just him. Even if he tells Moreno to trade him, that would certainly involve the Angels paying down part of his contract and, from the sound of it, that would be the last thing Arte would think of doing.

Here’s the link to the article:
How did Angels squander Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani? It starts with the owner’s frugality – The Athletic

I don’t care how nice Mike Trout is; for his own legacy he needs to get out of there and become a household name in October.

He needs to, thru his agent, or behind the scenes, ask for a trade, and Anaheim needs to grant it, pay some of his salary, and start building up the farm.

Bobby

haha. Anaheim trading Trout up the freeway followed by Ohtani signing up the freeway would be the ultimate HAHA to anaheim fans.

Bisbee is a great writer.

I don’t think Gabe will get another managerial job any time soon. He may be best suited for the type of work he did with our farm system. Whether that be here or somewhere else time will tell.

Fred Vogel

I would like to see him back with the Dodgers in some capacity.

Singing the Blue

I don’t see him as a front office guy. More of a work with young players guy and I don’t know if we have any openings there. If we do, I’m sure Andrew will reach out to him.

I’ve already seen McCullough mentioned as a possibility for some of the managerial openings this winter. And we always lose some front office guys, so it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring in Bloom and Kapler and leave some space for Farhan to return when the Giants fire him next winter.

The Dodgers seem to be the baseball version of Linkedin. Post your resume in a Dodger uniform and find it easy to get a job elsewhere in the baseball world.

Strange timing with Kapler.
What was the point?
