Since Miggy Ro and Edwin Díaz are the only moves the Dodgers have made, we have taken turns and discussed ad nauseum how we think the Dodgers should plan for 2026.
I was perusing the Baseball Trade Values Simulator and found some proposed trades for many of the discussed players we have been discussing. As a preface, any time I see a proposed trade involving Tarik Skubal, Hunter Greene, or Paul Skenes, I just pass over it. I do not think I have ever seen any trade proposeal for PCA to the Dodgers.
Here goes:
- Dodgers get – Brendan Donovan
Cardinals get – River Ryan, Adam Serwinowski, Emil Morales
- Dodgers get – Brendan Donovan, JoJo Romero
Cardinals get – River Ryan, Emil Morales, Zach Root
- Dodgers get – Brendan Donovan
Cardinals get – River Ryan, Zach Root, Charles Davalan, Cam Leiter That’s River Ryan, and the Dodgers 1st 3 picks in last year’s draft
- Dodgers get – Brendan Donovan
Cardinals get – Tyler Glasnow, Jackson Ferris, Patrick Copen, Mike Sirota, Cam Leiter
- Dodgers get – Jarren Duran
Red Sox get – Teoscar Hernández, James Tibbs III, Landon Knack, Josue De Paula
- Dodgers get – Jarren Duran and Jordan Hicks
Red Sox get – Teoscar Hernández, Dalton Rushing
- Dodgers get – Jarren Duran
Red Sox get – Jackson Ferris, Dalton Rushing
- Dodgers get – Jarren Duran
Red Sox get – Emmet Sheehan
- Dodgers get – Jazz Chisholm
Yankees get – Emil Morales, Charles Davalan
- Dodgers get – Jazz Chisholm
Yankees get – Emil Morales, Charles Davalan
- Dodgers get – Bo Naylor, Steven Kwan
Guardians get – Dalton Rushing, Chase Harlan, Jakob Wright
- Dodgers get – Royce Lewis
Twins get – Jackson Ferris, Alex Freeland, Patrick Copen
- Dodgers get – Brenton Doyle
Rockies get – James Tibbs III, Zach Ehrhard
- Dodgers get – Steven Kwan
Guardians get – River Ryan, Chase Harlan
Just like most of ours, these are not universally well received. Some of my comments on these trade proposals.
- I see no reason why the Dodgers would have any interest in Jazz Chisholm.
- I do not understand why the Red Sox would want Teoscar when they are trying to eliminate one of their OF. Now, if the Dodgers took Masataka Yoshida off the Red Sox hands they may be more amenable.
- I am not at all enthused of including River Ryan in a Brendan Donovan trade.
- I am not crazy about losing Emmet Sheehan, but in order to get someone, you have to give up someone. If the Red Sox accept a one-for-one trade of Sheehan for Jarren Duran, who am I to say no.
- While I think the trade for Brenton Doyle seems reasonable, I do not think there is a prayer that Colorado will trade with the Dodgers.
- I am also extremely reluctant to trade Emil Morales, especially for either Brendan Donovan or Jazz Chisholm.
- I am not keen on trading River Ryan for two years control for Kwan. But it is supposed to hurt. The Dodgers do not need Ryan for 2026, but Kwan would help.
- I do like Trade 11, Dalton Rushing, Chase Harlan, and Jakob Wright for Steven Kwan and Bo Naylor. Yes, it would be tough to lose Rushing, but the Dodgers still get their backup catcher with Naylor, and they get their LF. Because I like it, that undoubtedly means that the Guardians are not getting enough help for 2026 to justify the trade for them.
Feel free to comment on the above proposals or propose your own.

As previously posted by Bear in the last post, Munetaka Murakami signed a 2 year deal with the White Sox for $34MM. IMO, very team friendly deal for such prodigious power potential. It appears to be a short term deal so that he can prove he can hit MLB hitting. He is going to play 1B for ChiSox. He will be 28 in two years, the same time Freddie’s contract is up. Maybe the Dodgers wait until then to sign Murakami? Another LH power bat at 1B? Unless Josue De Paula converts to 1B, the Dodgers do not have a legit 1B prospect.
I’m surprised De Paula moving to 1B hasn’t already been done. I also thought Dodger interest in Bellinger would be as Freeman’s replacement when he retired but I like the idea of De Paula better.
Pages for PCA 😃
Pages for PCA and Hoerner!
Jeff should be happy with that
Yes, I would likw that. Make it happen!!
At first, Jeff, I thought those were some of your trade ideas, and I immediately thought, “I want what he’s drinking so early on a Sunday morning!”
I love how Morales is basically a throw-in.
Nope. Most of those are out of the Bradley trade school. As I said, I found the Bo Naylor and Steven Kwan for Rushing, Harlan, and Wright intriguing. I think it is a fair deal, but I do not know if Cleveland would agree with that return, expecially since both Harlan and Wright are years away. That is more of a trade deadline deal.
I have brought up the Sheehan for Duran deal in the past, but I just do not see Boston doing that. I also like the Rushing and Ferris deal for Duran, but I am sure that does not interest Boston. Carlos Narváez is a good Boston catcher. He is 27 with 5 more years of control. A backup catcher and AA pitcher for Duran? Unlikely.
No to Chisholm
Big no. Rojas already dealt with him.
You asked, so here are my comments:
Donovan – as much as I like him, I wouldn’t do any of the above suggested trades for him.
Jazz – agree, no real need for him and I would think AF wouldn’t be thrilled with how his personality would fit in here, not to mention his past issues with Miggy.
Duran – agree that the Sox have no real need for Teo so including him is probably a non-starter. I would definitely do the Ferris/Rushing deal and would hesitatingly do the Sheehan straight up deal in the hopes that Ryan or Stone would fill that 6th rotation spot well enough that we wouldn’t miss Sheehan much.
Lewis – would do Ferris/Freeland/Copen for Lewis although realizing it could blow up in our face if Lewis continues his injury history.
Doyle – would do Tibbs and Erhard and absolutely think that DePo would trade with us if he thought he was getting the better end of the deal for the long term. DePo is not the old Rox front office and I don’t think he would be encumbered by old school thinking.
Kwan – wouldn’t do the Ryan/Harlan trade because of how much I like Ryan but actually think this is a fair trade. Trade 11 (Naylor/Kwan for Rushing/Harlan/Wright) is my number 1 pick to do but I don’t think the Guardians would do it.
If you get your Lewis deal, what do you plan for Max?
I’d put Lewis at 2B for the 2026 season. Well, not really a season because he’ll probably only be healthy enough to play about 80 games.
Between the two, 3rd base is covered.
Poor Max nobody loves him anymore
I certainly do . Every trade possibility there is we are always on the short end according to me .I could never get a trade done if I was a GM !
Could you imagine if we traded him? Riots
I would do #7.
Red Sox wouldn’t.
I don’t think Friedman will trade Rushing
One of the better ones but losing Rushing hurts.
Cardinals trade Contreras to the Red Sox.
Do you think that means the Bosox are out on Bregman? I thought for sure he would end up back in Boston
Contreras has mainly been playing first base in St. Louis, and according to what I read, Sox still have an interest in Bregman.
I think Sheehan for Duran, straight up, could be a win-win.
The OF would read Teo-Duran-Pages and the sixth man in the rotation could be River Ryan, Gavin Stone or Wrobleski… Or perhaps Jackson Ferris or a rejuvenated Bobby Miller. (Stranger things have happened.)
Based on his too-brief debut last season, River Ryan impressed me more than Sheehan had–and I recall the ’24 Gavin Stone as better than the ’25 Sheehan. (And Sheehan was good!)…
If I ran the Red Sox, I’d be intrigued by the possibility of Teo as a DH attacking the Green Monster… Echoes of Big Papi… Perhaps Teo + Sheehan (or ???) could nab Abreu or Duran + ???.
I’d be very reluctant to trade Rushing. Nobody doubts the talent, and hhe might break out this season. Even if he doesn’t get enough ABs, he’s great insurance if Smith gets hurt. He’d also be Freddie’s backup.
I used to be bullish on Luis Robert Jr,. and lately I’ve been thinking he still might be worth the risk. Even if the Dodgers are unable to get him back into Silver Slugger form, an OF of Teo-Robert-Pages would certainly be an upgrade over Conforto-Pages-Teo, and potentially a major improvement.
The O’s just packaged four prospects + a draft pick for Shane Baz. The Dodgers have several good prospects who are blocked on the Dodgers but could help a team like the White Sox.
How about:
— a top OF prospect like De Paula or Hope + second tier one like Tibbs, George or Davalan
— an infielder like Freeland or Owen Miller or Jeondry Vargas. (I’m keeping Morales!)
— two pitchers from about a dozen possibilities.
Duran may be more of a sure thing, but Robert has the higher ceiling.
Am I understanding your suggested trade correctly for Robert, Duke?
You are saying you’d give the Sox, for example, DePaula, Freeland and two pitchers for Robert Jr? So lets just say Knack and Miller.
I ran that through the Trade Simulator and, believe it or not, they value Knack by himself as having more value than Robert Jr. So in their estimation this is a drastic overpay. Of course it isn’t written anywhere that you’re wrong and they’re right, but I have a hunch if Andrew offered the Sox that deal, they’d have Robert at Dodger Stadium before AF could even hang up the phone.
“I think Sheehan for Duran, straight up, could be a win-win.”
For the Dodgers it would.
The theme of this thread is Trade Value Boards. Everything I’m reading says Duran has more Trade Value than Sheehan. It seems common sense to me that a 29 year old with a 3 year WAR average of 4.4 would have more value than a pitcher who projects a near 4 FIP and a 1.6 WAR.
There are rumors that Boston will sign Bregman, trade an outfielder and look for more pitching. Boston and LA could match up for a deal, but they will want more for Duran.
All of the projections and values here are a bit silly in this academic exercise. Each team has its own needs, biases and judgments. For some reason, remember, the Great and Wise AF figured that Conforto was worth $17 million, and that Lux-Vargas would be a mighty fine keystone combo. They all make mistakes.
The point, as I see it, is not to “win” a trade, but to find the “win-win.” You don’t want to trick a rival with damaged goods, for example, but deal in good faith. You want full disclosure.
The Red Sox need pitching, and Sheehan is a young, talented one with years of control. How many teams wouldn’t want Sheehan? He’s a great trade chip.
“The Red Sox need pitching”
And we need an outfielder.
Wrobleski and …. Joendry?
The AL East seems to be where all the action, and rumors are happening, it’s going to be a crazy division next season if some of these rumors come true. I think the Rays made a good decision to start trading for prospects, and start a rebuild while the other four teams in that division beat each other’s brains out.
The AL East is a beast.
Last season, the O’s didn’t have a single player hit 20 HRs, as Henderson, Rutschman and others fell short of live up to expectations. Now Alonso and Taylor Ward each bring 30+ HR to the mix.
But the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Yankees are all expected to keep building as front-runners for Tucker, Belli, Bregman and Bichette.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers seem to have an easier path in the NL West.
The good teams, the contending teams, are all retooling with one goal in mind – dethroning the World Champions.
With that in mind who are the more likely teams to trade with the Dodgers? If it is to be a contending team you can bet it won’t happen without their organizational algorithms saying that trade will gain at least 1 win on them. So how do the Dodgers give a win away to one contender while gaining a win, or more, on all other contenders? I don’t know, but I’ll bet Friedman does.
I don’t think the AL teams are reluctant about dealing with the Dodgers. To beat the champs, they need to get to the World Series.
But NL teams may be a bit wary, and especially NL West teams. Would the D’backs deal Ketel Marte to the Dodgers? Maybe–if it it was a really big offer.
But Marte is another guy who might wind up in the AL East.
Or does he?
Guardians Seeking Right-Handed Hitting Outfielder – MLB Trade Rumors https://share.google/wlYxHZu7QF5PEAPEm
What does the simulator say about Teo and Kwan? Who else needs to be included?
The simulator has Teo at a negative trade value. They say Teo plus Rushing would be a slight overpay for Kwan. Teo plus Hope would be about even. I don’t see AF doing either of those deals.
Wilyer Abreu has about the same value as Kwan. The Red Sox don’t need Rushing but they are overly left handed in the outfield. Maybe they’d go for Teo and Hope, both right handed hitters. They’d have Teo for a couple years and by that time Hope would be ready. There again, I doubt AF would do that deal.
Teo + Rushing for Kwan? Or Teo + Hope?
Yeah, I don’t think AF would be as dumb as the trade simulator.
Last summer, I wanted Kwan as an upgrade over Conforto because of his glove and on-base skills. But right now I don’t see him as an upgrade over Teo because of Teo’s power and contribution to team chemistry.
If management decides to keep Teo in RF–and they might– Kwan could still make sense for the Dodgers. But aren’t we hoping that Teo shifts to LF?
I assume Kwan would be OK in CF–but not as good as Pages or potential replacements like Duran, Robert Jr or Buxton.
If the brass decides to pursue Kwan, I think the offer would be topped by pitching, perhaps something like:
–Wrobleski as a proven major league lefty who could join the rotation or the bullpen. (We’d miss him, especially if Tanner Scott continues to struggle. But we’d keep Sheehan.)
–Bounce-back candidate Bobby Miller, the former first-rounder who’d become a change-of-scenery rehab project. Miller is now an iffy bullpen piece for the Dodgers. (Maddux Bruns, also a first-rounder, might also benefit from a change of scenery and fresh coaching).
–Ryan Ward as a power-first successor to Kwan in LF, and also a candidate for DH and 1B. Or perhaps Kendall George, whose speed may be valued more by other teams.
The Dodgers have several blocked prospects who would benefit other franchises. I’d like to see more trades that use that pool of resources.
George, ranked about 7th or 8th among Dodgers OF prospects, is a long shot for the Dodgers’ loaded lineup. But for many teams, he’d quickly become one of their top ten prospects and be considered a future starter.
Justin Wrobleski would be a good trade candidate, but not as a headliner. He is a swingman pitcher who has never extablished himself as a MLB pitcher. He is Ross Stripling and Mitch White without the experience. Sure, with the Cleveland pitching gurus he could become a regular in the rotation. But you are not getting Steven Kwan with a maybe.
Bobby Miller and Maddux Bruns have no trade value. You are going to have to op the ante with Jackson Ferris and Adam Serwinowski or more likely River Ryan or Gavin Stone.
I like Ryan Ward, but the days of him being a regular MLB OF are probably behind him. Every team in MLB had multiple years to draft him in the Rule 5 draft, and every year he was passed over. He could be a valuable bat off the bench in a reserve role.
Kendall George is another throw in, but he is also not a regular OF option. He is Justin Dean. Billy Hamilton. I like him more as a 4th OF with the Dodgers in a few years. He needs Brett Butler as a mentor. But I do not think he will hit enough to be a regular.
The one thing Cleveland can do is develop pitching, but they have zero offense outside of José Ramirez and Kwan. They already have George Valera and Chase DeLauter who they prefer over Ward. They could use a catcher who can hit and have a good working relationship with pitchers. Dalton Rushing would be preferable to any of the players you mentioned. Cleveland does not have to trade Kwan now. They did not like the Dodgers offer at the trade deadline. I do not know what that was, but do you think they are going to increase it all that much now? The Dodgers are not desperate to make a trade.
Teo for kwan . Read the back of the card and compare .does his horrible defense make that much difference that you would trade a 4 hitter for a 9 hitter
I would do a Teo + Hope for Kwan. Put Pages in RF. De Paula, Edman and ? for PCA.
I love PCA, but so do the Cubs and their fans.
I prefer plausible trade scenarios.
But if for some reason PCA becomes persona non grata in Chicago–let’s say a Bauer-lite sex scandal involving the owners’ wives and daughters–yeah, the Dodgers should make an offer.
Bum, You’re like a bull dog when you get something in your teeth you just won’t let go.(trading Max away, trading for PCA) 😀
Max is maintaining tradition. PCA is just my flavor of the current preseason. I pick a new pipedream every year.
Hope is a left handed batter
You’re absolutely right. Brain freeze on my part.
We can substitute Quintero who has about the same current Simulator value but probably makes the trade even less likely from AF’s perspective.
Colorado Rockies news: Should the Rockies trade Brenton Doyle? | Purple Row https://share.google/yUuCuXjjL5XTHCa3q
Should they?
The guy answers his own question. No. They shouldn’t.
“After parsing things out, I’m more in the camp of keeping Doyle to start the season. Let him try and build up value again and reassess his market next summer. I’d rather see what he can do under this new team philosophy. If you followed my Out of the Park Baseball sim articles recently, I had a heck of a time replacing Doyle in the outfield. Sure, the pitching I got in return was decent, but it left a hole in my struggling offense.”
Maybe a 3 team trade
I want to wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas. I am heading home to Colorado on Saturday. Hope everyone has a great day.
Marry Christmas, Bear.
Don’t hibernate too long…
I used to spend the summers in Fruita when I was a kid with my grandparents, wave for me when you pass through, I hear Fruita and Grand Junction have almost grown together.
They are virtually joined at the hip. I turn south on UUS 50 when I get to Grand Junction.
My son in law, and his family all deer hunt down around Delta somewhere, but they are pretty tight lipped about exactly where
Same to you, Bear. Safe travels.
Hope you don’t get caught in that big storm we’re expecting in SoCal over the next few days.
Going up to Lake Isabella first to see my daughter and her family, then heading to Arizona to see my friend Mike. When I leave his place I will be on my way back to Colorado.
Ryan O’Hearn signing with the Pirates on a 2-year deal.
Interesting this guy thinks Tucker and Bellinger are asking for 50 million a year because they are close to Soto in value
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8yyoWoq/
I’ve seen similar reports, including over $400 million for Tucker. There are not many teams that could afford such a price tag and it doesn’t seem like they are interested. I think that’s why AF said the Dodgers need to be patient.
