Another division champ crashes and burns in their first series. More to follow!

Norcaldodgerfan

Not today! ITFDB……..:

Therealten

Way back before the trade deadline I advocated to pick up Jose Quintana. Well he just threw 5 shutout innings today helping the Mets eliminate Philly. U think it doesn’t help to be an underdog. Ask Philly they were last year n knocked off the favorite Atlanta. This year they just didn’t have that magic,as a loose underdog playing with everything to gain n nothing to lose, knocked them off. The Dodgers just play scared while the pads play loose.

the more I think about Roberts nonchalant action after the machado play, the more I think this is indicative of the whole team. He sets the tone. Be aggressive take it to them show some fight. Right or wrong make an argument instead of saying how wonderful machado is. Mb freeman should have worked in spring training on what to do if someone makes such a smart play.

Therealten

Well they did come out very aggressive both hitters and the pitcher. Even Muncy made a big play on defense. Go Dodgers!!

Dionysus

{fart noise}

Cassidy

We need to get something from the bottom of the lineup like Peralta has given the Pads. Maybe Kike?

Jimbo

We got something from them this time through the order. I loved Kike’s approach. Smith and Taylor should have the same approach.

Bluto

What happened?

I saw the game started positively?

Bluto

I’m watching the yanks game for now, and what in the world has happened to Bob Costas? He’s dreadful now.

Keith

Smith was listening to you jimbo

Bluto

?

Jimbo

He was.

Keith

how can you be watching the yanks while we are playing Bluto, I used to like you not sure now.

Bluto

Eh. 8th and 9th inning of a close game?

I’m watching now, ofc

Eric

I never did and I agree.

Whew!!!

Cassidy

TAKE THAT CHUMPS!!!!!!!

Therealten

This is a long way from being over but what an attitude change. They are loose, aggressive, and confident.

OhioDodger

Munce and Will showing up tonight.

Eric

Yep 👍🏻

Badger

I just heard Joe Davis say what Machado did was legal. I’m quite certain he is wrong. So I looked it up.

WILLFUL AND DELIBERATE INTERFERENCE
Rules 6.01(a)(5-7), 5.09(a)(13), 5.09(b)(3), 6.01(j):
Rules 6.01(a)(6) and 6.01(a)(7) were added to the Official Baseball Rules to add an additional penalty when a base runner or a batter-runner deliberately and intentionally interferes with a batted ball or a fielder in the act of fielding a batted ball to deprive the defensive team of an opportunity to complete a possible double play. Keep in mind the rules provide that the runner or batter-runner must interfere with the obvious attempt to break up a double play.

Rule 5.09(a)(13) was added to the Official Baseball Rules “to penalize the offensive team for deliberate, unwarranted, unsportsmanlike action by the runner in leaving the baseline for the obvious purpose of crashing the pivot man on a double play rather than trying to reach the base.”

There hasn’t been a lot of follow up on that play, which kinda surprises me.

Cassidy

In the act of fielding, not in the act of throwing. And he didn’t try to crash into the pivot man

Cassidy

Unlucky there! No one talks about what a great slider Ohtani is.

Badger

There’s more to it. A base runner hit by a thrown ball is guilty of interference only if the runner intentionally touches the ball, or otherwise alters or deflects the course of the thrown ball.

Was that intentional? Uh, yeah.

Jimbo

The announcers said it was legal last night and tonight. The studio crew thought it was interference last night.

Bluto

More bad luck for Dodgers with that ball hitting the ump.

Norcaldodgerfan

Can’t catch a break. Sure wish Ohtani had moved into the path of the thrown ball.

Keith

Ohtani almost got under the tag

Keith

At least they are trying to not let up

Keith

Merrill is a heck of a player, I wished he was a dodger instead of a padre

Bobby

He is a future superstar, MVP level player

OhioDodger

Good one NorCal.

Michael Norris

Bullpen doing a bang-up job so far. Only hard-hit ball was Tatis double. Offense is clicking.

Therealten

Can the pads get any luckier? That play on Ohtani and Arraez looking like a gold glover. The umpire should have used the right arm. Freaking peralta couldn’t do anything for the Dodgers. A long way to go but I like the Dodger energy. The dodgers better keep scoring.

Cassidy

What’s up with Peralta!!!! He never did squat for us!

Cassidy

Ballgame right here with Tatis!
HUGE OUT!

Bluto

His elbow is back to full health, I’d guess.

Eric

Doc’s doing good with the bullpen decisions, but after Phillips, he only has two more good relievers. Someone has to go multiple innings unless the Dodgers make it a blowout and he could use the two holes in the bullpen or Knack.

In a quick camera shot to the BP I think I saw Flaherty sitting out there. I think he might be asked to take down an inning or two.

Doubt we’ll be seeing Casparius or Henriquez tonight, maybe Knack but that scares the heck out of me.

Therealten

He may be wishing he had a lefty later for Merrill. We better score more runs. He is going to have to go with some risky pitcher. He has already used his best pitchers. Of course Phillips is still in.

Wayne

You got it right. Dodgers blowing them out, so Knack gets the 9th-inning.

Bluto

Taylor looks beyond dreadful.

Back to his negative OPS+ form.

Norcaldodgerfan

CT3=horrible

Bluto

I mean given how Edman and Kike offer versatility, how is KK not a better rostering?

Cassidy

He looks like a little leaguer up there!
It’s embarrassing

Last edited 5 days ago by Cassidy
Norcaldodgerfan

If he played better defense Pages would be in CF with Hernandez at 3B and CT3 on the bench. He offers nothing in the batters box.

Therealten

He doesn’t have anybody else to put in

Bluto

Presuming (but not hoping for) no more Dodger runs…

Hopefully Phillips goes through the 6th. Then a combo of Knack/Hudson for 7th or 8th.

Trienen for 9th.

NO reason to go to Flahrety. NONE.

Don’t fuck this up.

Hmmm. Could Phillips go longer?

Last edited 5 days ago by Bluto
Jimbo

5 pitches. Just what the team needed

Norcaldodgerfan

Five pitch 6th inning, I think Doc uses Phillips for the 7th.

Therealten

Send phillips back out for 1 more. Hudson in the 8th, Treinen 9th. They both scare me. Trouble throwing strikes. But u got to go with them.

Bluto

I dunno. Eight run lead. Why not go to Knack? And/or Casparius.

Last edited 5 days ago by Bluto
Therealten

We didn’t have an 8 run lead when I posted.

Bluto

Although it read like I did, I didn’t mean to call you out

Eric

Five pitches it took for Phillips to get through that inning. Might be a good idea to start Phillips the next inning.

Bobby

4 outs in 10 pitches. Or, if we send him out for another inning, does that eliminate him for Friday?

Therealten

No

Jimbo

Impressive bunt especially after watching Taylor try earlier in the game.

Cassidy

Lux can’t hit lefties!
Common, you just can’t roster Taylor if we get to the NLCS

Norcaldodgerfan

That contract can’t expire fast enough. Four Ks tonight. Unbelieveable

OhioDodger

One more year. AF would probably like to have that one back. It has been a disaster.

Norcaldodgerfan

Great bunt by Edman. Needed some more runs, love the small ball there.

OhioDodger

Refreshing.

Bluto

Gavin Lux after the All-Star break: .304/.391/.508.

So far in the NLDS: .357, .946 OPS.

It understandably took him time to get his rhythm and timing back after missing all of last season.

He’s quietly been one of baseball’s best hitters.

Also. Quiet has become all those who were looking for the team to move on from him.

OhioDodger

Must have been his body language.

Bluto

Just so I know, from all the experts.

How is the body language?
The eyes?
Intensity?

OhioDodger

LMAO!!

Bluto

And just remember:

Sorry folks but this thing is over, even if the Dodgers accidentally win tonight.

Cassidy

Blow it up baby! I heard AF has put his house on the market!

Norcaldodgerfan

F*#k yes Gavin

Eric

Good deal. Lux’s HR.

Cassidy

Brazier is my MVP. He set the early tone! Mookie a close 2nd

Bobby

Brasier was fantastic to set the tone yes!

Northmsdodger

Lux. .How ya like me now

Bluto

Lux’s homer was his first off a LHP since Aug. 15, 2022.

Bobby

At least we can go a couple days without being told the entire thing needs to be blown up

Bluto

Yes, I have also detected that pattern.

Eric

Doc did a good job with the bullpen. Brasier is really good against RHB, so starting him allowed Doc to use him against Tatis, Machado, Profar to set the tone and the offense showed up. He used all seven of the good relievers that I said in an earlier post that he should do. I’m not a staunch supporter, but I’ll give him credit when credit is due. Good job.

Ok. Who had the Dodgers 8-0 tonight? Let’s sit on off speed on Friday!!!!

Last edited 5 days ago by Cassidy
Duke Not Snider

Certainly not me. My strategy of expecting the worst paid off.
Four games, with two blowouts. A blowout is never really dramatic, but this one sure sets up Game 5 back in LA.
I’m hoping Freddie heals quickly.
Meanwhile, the Mets faithful are talking about “destiny,” and the Tigers are looking like Cinderella.
Come on, Dodgers…. just one more for a showdown with the Mets.

OhioDodger

Woo-Hoo!! Back to LA.

I guess we will have to wait to blow it up.

Scott Andes

This game was skillfully managed by Dave Roberts. It was almost surgical. Kudos to him, and let’s give him some well deserved credit.

What a great effort from the entire club. The bullpen was fantastic. See you on friday!!!

Wayne

If Roberts said or did anything to help the Dodgers bats heat up, then he should replicate it for the rest of the playoffs.

Keith

Here, here

Wayne

Shildt gambled for the knock-out punch by starting his ace on short rest for this game. It backfired BIGLY on him, ’cause Cease never had it from the get-go.The repercussions for Friday’s Game 5 will be interesting.

Watford Dodger

Bullpen, Yamamoto or Flaherty on Friday?

Wayne

Should be bullpen.

Must See
