Muncy at first and Taylor is playing second. Will Smith is batting 8th. Michael Kopech is the opener tonight for the Dodgers.

Teo then got his first hit of the series, a booming single off of the CF fence. Ohtani to third.  Tommy Edman doubled down the left field line scoring Ohtani and Hernandez. 2-1 LA.  Muncy flied out and Kike walked. Pages popped out to end the inning.

He struck out McNeil to end the inning.

Bottom of the third, Teo singled for his second hit of the series, and Edman homered to left. 4-1 LA.  Muncy walked and Maton replaced Manaea. Muncy stole second.  Kike and Pages struck out. Smith then homered to dead center. 6-1 LA.  Taylor flied out.  In the top of the 4th, Banda still pitching. Alvarez singled. Garrett in to pitch for the Mets. Betts lined into a force play, Ohtani out at second. Taylor to third, Betts on first.  Teo lines out to SS. Betts steals second. Edman grounds out to end the inning.  Top of the seventh, 9 outs to go. Hudson in to pitch for the Dodgers.  Marte leading off for the Mets grounded out to third.  Taylor singled to left. McNeil singled on the first pitch to center.  Taylor to third. Alvarez hits a sac-fly to right scoring Taylor. 7-4 LA. Lindor strikes out to end the inning.

Bottom of the seventh Senga in to pitch for the Mets. Muncy was hit by a pitch. Kike hit into a force play, Muncy out at second.  Pages strikes out.  Smith lined out on the first pitch to left field. Top of the eighth. Treinen in to pitch for the Dodgers. Nimmo strikes out. Taylor took second on defensive indifference. McNeil singled on a ball that was just barely over Taylors glove and Taylor scored. 10-5 LA. Alvarez grounded to Taylor who threw to Muncy for the final out. Dodgers heading back to the series for the first time since 2020. Tommy Edman was named NLCS MVP.  Last NLCS MVP for LA was also their SS. Corey Seager.

In summary, it was not a clean game for the bullpen game. The only clean inning was Treinen’s 8th. Otherwise the Mets had runners on in every inning. Mets were 2-9 with RISP. They left 13 men on base. LA pitchers walked 6 and struck out 9. The Dodgers on the other hand had 11 hits, 6 walks and a hit batter. They hit 2 homers to the Mets 1. They were 5-17 with RISP and left 9 runners on base. The top of the Dodger order, Ohtani-Edman, had 7 hits, drove in 7 and scored 6.

Ohtaniism was genius, too. More Asians, please!!

Scott Andes

Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dodgers redemption tour 2024.

You guys are great

4 more wins!

Singing the Blue

Does this mean they can wait until after the World Series to fire Doc and Andrew?
😎

Scott Andes

Ha ha ha, is that necessary?

You can pile it on me but we’re on the same team.

Dionysus

No dude you shit-posted on the team all year. You’re not part of this win.

Bobby

It is necessary, but it’s fun love.

Scott Andes

Look Dinosaur,

Don’t be such a petty jerk,

you’re not related to Friedman, first of all. You act like he’s your cousin.

Second, as if you have never spoken negatively of the team, or “shit posted” before.

I call you out for your hypocrisy. So get bent.

BTW, I bleed blue just as much or more than anyone on these boards.

So please Dinosaur…..again, get bent.

It is a little funny, Scott.

Scott Andes

Agreed, it is funny.

Singing the Blue

No offense meant, Scott. We all celebrate together.

Scott Andes

for sure STB. I think the only one that meant offense and takes it too far is Dinosaur.

otherwise it is funny.

rodgerdodger

IMO this blog and any blog would be silly if everyone just logged on and kissed the ownership and managers asses.

Think about what it would be like in here right now if San Diego took game 4. It would be a bloodbath.

None of it matters now. WS bound and we are all proud of all of them. Mobs are always fickle. That will never change.

Wayne

I love Tommy Edman. His middle name should be “Baseball,” cuz he’s a baseball playa’. Watching him play it’s obvious he’s one of those rare types that plays MLB free ‘n loose with no tension because he’s like a kid “in love” with the game itself.

Bravo Tommy Edman all is well in the world!

Watford Dodger

Now we need to finish the job.

Is it right to assume we can get 6 starts (2 each from Yamamoto, Beuhler and Flaherty if fit) meaning we might only need a Bullpen game once?

Does Doc bring Freddie in considering we have won the 3 games he has hasn’t played?

Was Flaherty unwell or is he injured, and if so do we pivot to Knack or give Wrobo a go and hope for the best? Is Tony Gonsolin an option given that Knack must be feeling a a low ebb?

Lots to ponder

Lux’s health-status is concerning too.

Jeff

No Worries, Watford. Dodgers are Destiny’s Child. This is our WS.

dodgerram

Had to watch it on the MLB archives due to the starting time and an important busniess appointment early morning Just finished it and I am stressed out.
That was nerve wrecking to watch until the bottom of the 8th when the Dodgers finally put the game away. As Bear wrote our bullpen arms let a lot of Mets on base, no easy inning but the 8th for our guys. But the offense kept on chugging and putting up more runs.

Tommey Edman earned that MVP award , what a series he put up!

Lets rest up and then on to the Yanks. 4 more wins !

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter how you slice it they overcame so much to get there and everyone deserves all of the credit. One of the most resilient teams I have ever seen.

Exciting times!

I obviously want the Dodgers to win it all and will be disappointed in the moment if they do not, but for now all I can say is WOW! Team has heart, fortitude and a strong desire to pass the baton to the next player.

Doc has done a great job, probably his best managerial job ever. I was worried when Kopech was a bit wild and allowed a run in the first but to come back and get momentum on our side with two runs in the bottom of the first was huge. Laying off Manaea’s off speed stuff was key and then giving Casparius 1.1 innings was BIG.

As Doc and AF ponder the WS roster I wonder if Kelly, Graterol, and Miggy Ro are options? Knack doesn’t do much for me and I wonder if he’ll be on the roster. Does 7 days rest/therapy get FF’s ankle feeling better?

Yankees will score their share of runs as their offense is potent withJudge, Stanton and Soto.

Calling my shot right now. Ohtani has a huge WS performance and will be the MVP and the Dodgers will win it in front of the fans at DS and there will be a parade in DTLA.

With the injuries, San Diego was better. They had the bats, the pitching, and the momentum. Honestly, the Dodgers had no business getting by them. To do so was incredible.

I agree. WS would be amazing but there just isn’t any reason to be mad if this is their ceiling. This season was doomed before it even started.

Bluto

Yeah, in now-sight and hindsight the Padres are and were a really, really good team.

Fun to watch play, too!

rodgerdodger

Cheers!

Scott Andes

very good team yes, but taunting and heckling fans is pathetic, and unprofessional. Hopefully this loss will help them learn and grow a bit.

Dionysus

Congrats to all who believed

Bobby

It was a fun atmosphere all night at the Stadium. Seems the Mets had guys on base and ready to score and tie it up every inning, except Treinen’s filthy 8th.

The World Series will be a different level, with Soto Judge Stanton coming up every 2 innings. Can’t wait till Friday!

Watford, hopefully you pounded some water over there!!

Jeff

Bobby, when are the Indians going to start playing baseball? Should be an easy transition from Cricket. Perfect sport for them.

Bobby

Baseball (and basketball especially) are trying to get into India, but that country is so cricket crazy that they don’t seem to make time for much else.

I was in Dubai this past July, when India won the World Cricket Cup (or whatever it’s called). So for the hell of it, I bought an India cricket jersey and wore it around the Mall of Dubai. Every single Indian person that passed me gave me high fives, fist bumps ,etc. It meant that much to the Indian folks. (I didn’t get as much fist bumps when I wore my Dodger or Laker stuff)

As evidenced by sending 20 or so athletes out of 1.3 billion people to the Olympics.

Funny thing is, about 15-20 years ago, baseball held a huge camp for tryouts and actually signed a couple guys for the MLB minor leagues. One guy didn’t make it very far, and the other guy gained about 80 lbs of muscle and is now in WWE (he’s massive but really athletic).

Trying to stay awake at work today Bobby. Only had a couple of hours sleep before setting my alarm for 1am and game didn’t finish till it was time I’d be getting up anyway.

Was worth it though. Must’ve been great to be there live.

Saw lots of sad Pats fans around London last night.

Patch – cheers for you kind message. I’ll be in contact. Glad you’re well.

Well, I hope the series doesn’t go 7. My daughter is getting married that day. You know wearing my Dodger jersey under my tux and all probably isn’t gonna go over well with the girls in my family!

Bumsrap

It worked for Superman

Bobby

Congrats in advance!

Scott Andes

What happened to him? I wish he was here, even if just to tease me like he always liked to do.

Bumsrap

The team with the best record is in the WS. All is well in the MLB. TV ratings will be huge.

rodgerdodger

I gotta give a shout out to Max Muncy who was doing crazy things out there in that series. In 27 plate appearance, Max got on base a whopping 17 times!!!!! A .630 On Base Percentage.

Think about last night’s game and how it was stressful every time The Mets got a base runner. Max basically did that for an entire series.

Simply incredible.

Bumsrap

Agree

After beating the SD morons, I read that Teo said that the Dodgers hadn’t approached him about a contract extension, maybe that’s why he looked distracted, sad or disappointed, because I’m sure he would love to stay in LA. Maybe that made him fail in the first games against the Mets, and he realized that even though he won’t be back with the team, he’s playing to win a ring (in fact that’s why he signed with the Dodgers) and also to get a big contract next season. So I expect to see a very different Teo against the Yankees!

Now it’s time to beat the other asshole from NY….

Dodger MVP?
How about AF!
Ohtani, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Paxton, the Hernandez brothers. Flaherty, Edman and Kopec! Has a baseball exec ever have a better year?!!!!!!

dodgerram

I hope the Dodgers go after Soto. Future HOF, still very young (Dodgers could use some influx of youth), proven he can stand in the spotlight and produce.

The money saved by not resigning Teo would make it possible. With an eye to the future as far as money is concerned: FF has only 3 more years on his contract . CT one more year. Muncy one year.

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bluto

Yeah, I think it’s next year when Taylor and Muncy come off the books that AF next goes superstar hunting.

Bluto

Yes, that’s my point.

dodgerram

AF said that Vesia and the Bazooka have a chance to be on the WS roster.

What a lift that would be for the bullpen and the team. Bazooka and Vesia for Knack and Honeywell ? What an upgrade that could be.

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Singing the Blue

If those two are added my guess is the subtractions would be Knack OR Honeywell plus Henriquez.

We need someone who can go multiple innings in relief and Knack or Honeywell are the best options for that.

Phil Jones

I would keep Honeywell too, Bear. No use for Kelly if he is even a remote consideration. I don’t see a need for any significant roster changes, besides Knack gone and perhaps another LHP with Worbs. This group has done pretty well as is.

Can we piece together more terrific game plans with our pitching against the Yankees. Doc and the staff has been magnificent despite what some of the semi-professional manager trolls on this site want to do and empty the chamber in lost cause situations. I’m glad the Dodger staff know when to piss on the campfire and call in the hounds in order to prosper another day.

With all the credit due to Ohtani as a DH, I think Judge is the best player in baseball. His numbers, presence and skill in center is remarkable for such a big man. And Soto and Stanton have been great.

We’ll have our hands full but I sure like how we are playing, especially when we don’t get down early. This is a team effort and a different hero can emerge at any time, in any game.

I’d like to get 2 starts out of Yamamoto. I hope the first one is this Friday in LA. You don’t suppose he could start Game 5 on 4 days rest? It would obviously depend on his workload Game 1. But I need to see this guy give us some innings. So far, he’s cost $264,705 per inning and $2.75 million per win. And I don’t think that includes his $50.6 million posting fee paid to the Orix Buffaloes. He owes us innings.

Flaherty obviously needs to be better and hopefully his alleged illness was the cause. And I still am confident about Buehler, as I was before the playoffs. Play clean behind him and with some run support, he’ll be fine.

So that leaves some serious game planning for a couple of bullpen games but I see no reason they won’t work, again. I don’t want to see Kopech as an opener anymore, however. He’s been hanging 10 on a ledge his last couple of outings.

Classic Yankees – Dodgers. The uniforms alone create exciting memories.

Phil Jones

Yup, that would be his usual weeks rest.

Bluto

Really could use more lefties against the Yankees.

if Wrobo-cop’s control wasn’t such an issue in the majors, he’d be an interesting piece.

Wayne

Keeping fingers crossed for Vesia to make the WS roster.

rodgerdodger

Have you guys seen this LOL?

Cassidy

I’m very impressed with Casparius. I’d pick him over Knack or Honeywell to pitch 3-4 innings after an opener in game 4. If both Vesia and Graterol can throw, that’s a game changer for us! Big bullpen advantage for us, offsetting Yankee starting pitching advantage.

Last edited 2 months ago by Cassidy
Phil Jones

Cassidy, I liked Casparius from the git-go. Jeff D. thinks he’s destined for the bullpen in the future and he’s likely right, due his 2 pitch repertoire. I think if he could add a pitch, like a change, he could be a starter as he was in MiLB.
I really like the kid’s presence and he may be moving up the peeking order.
Sure would be nice to have Vesia back. I’m not as thrilled about Graterol. His 7.1 total innings don’t inspire a lot of confidence to me. At least he’s be well rested.

we own the National League now. Hopefully next MLB.

Make Mine Blue

Boy am I glad I was so wrong about the SD series, I admit I wasn’t feeling it. Now that we got those guys out of the way, this team has really taken off. Reminds me of a car race, sometimes the trailing driver has trouble passing the lead car, even if the lead car is running slower laps, but once the lead car is overtaken, the overtaking car just runs off and leaves the pack behind, I see that effect now with the Dodgers. So put it in 6th gear and pass these Yankees and leave them in the dust.

So I am excited about the WS, should be exciting and I’m totally ready to see that Championship Parade in Los Angeles (sure you are likely to get shot in that crowd but what the hell. Hope the Dodgers have to use the Secret Service for security).

Kike didn’t get the MVP in the NCLS, but in the totality of the two series so far, Mr. October has to be the real MVP, plus he drops F bombs on LIve TV, so what’s not to like. Never did I think that huge injuries to two big time contributors (MIggy and Freddie) would pave the way to getting the two MVPs (Edman and Mr. October) into the lineup each game.

Felt good for Smith and CT last night. Bravo Boys!

Go Dodgers!!!

One more thing, wow should Eric’s performance be best described as an implosion or an explosion? Either way, he pushed the self-destruct button. (Eric still sounds more coherent than the narcissist douchbag on that other site, lol. both are mental and not missed in here).

Thanks Jeff for providing this blog for the mentally sound.

Bear, good job on all the history you provide to the blog. Very interesting stuff.

Eric

I said I was not going to post here for awhile or never again, but I wanted to thank dodgerpatch for nice words to me in his post. Thank you dodgerpatch. I was worried about you my friend because I haven’t seen you post for awhile. It isn’t a bunch of people I’ve had problems with, it’s only Bear. Don’t delete this post like you did when I tried to talk to Watford Dodger just because I mentioned your name. There’s no reason for it.

Eric

Also, Ohio Dodger said some nice words to me in his post yesterday or the day before and I want to thank him too. Thank you Ohio Dodger. Yes the way Mark treated me affected me.

And thank you to Singing The Blue too.

You three guys and Watford and Badger and I might be missing someone else or a few others take care and I’ll miss talking to you. I’m glad to see that you’re all right Dodger Patch.

The best World Series came together. The Dodgers and the Yankees.

I really like you five guys and I hope you guys know that.

And I respect you, Jeff.

I like you too

Eric

I forgot about you, Bobby. I’m sorry. I like you too.

OhioDodger

Hey Eric. Let it go with Mark. He is not worth it. His blog has become a farce. Little Mark Peep and his sheep.

I hope you will continue to post here. You are still welcome if you keep it to baseball. We are all rabid Dodger fans here and it is fun to banter with fellow Dodger fans. We may not always agree, but we can still get along and debate topics civilly. Just don’t take it personal or as an attack when people don’t agree with you. Take care and Go Dodgers!!!

Interesting article about Honeywell and how Muncy is a big fan.
https://flip.it/U14bIV

love this at the end;

Honeywell shared with Vassegh what Muncy told him after he walked off the Citi Field mound in Game 5.
“He said that I won us Game 6,” Honeywell said.
“Wow. And you were right,” Vassegh told Muncy.

Bobby

Ya that was an awesome interview.
