Yes, nice win especially with both Giants and Padres losing.
Vesia looked shaky last night. First time in some time he was not mowing everybody down. Other than the HR Scott again looked very good.

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been battling a nasty flu for the past week but still managed to watch every game. It seems our pitching has galvanized enough to where we will win or battle our way through the coming season barring more injuries. Kershaw is still enough to stand in and deliver. What more can we ask of this demi-god.

It was thrilling for me to see Shohei on the mound the other day. Indeed, historic! The only thing I miss seeing from him is his base stealing which will probably be toned down since his move to the mound. Safety first.

Relievers are beginning to look believable again. Scott, 15th save today, gives up a HR and barely blinks. Love it. The team is looking like magic again.

Nice win for Clayton. Solid outing again.
Pages keeps raking.

Quintero should go up to high A soon. Are the Dodgers not promoting guys like dePaula, Sirota, Hope, Quintero because they want to keep their trade value as high as possible ? If the promote them now and they struggle it could harm their value in a possible trade.

After a slow start at the ACL Emil Morales has gone on a tear the last week raising his average all the way up to .280 with 5 HRs.

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a log jam of outfielders in the system. Great Lakes has five very good outfielders. Not sure about Tulsa, none of their outfielders jump out at you. OKC has some decent outfielders, Ward, Ruiz, Berra and of course Outman. In my unprofessional opinion it’s time the Dodgers cut bait with some of the outfielders. I can think of one at the major leagues and OkC needs to only keep a couple of there outfielders all of them are over 26 years old. Perhaps bring one up to play left field and see if he can handle MLB pitching. If Tulsa has a worthy outfielder (let me know, I check there box scores and stats daily) move him up to OKC. The outfielders at Great Lakes and Quintero for the Quakes would be exciting to watch at a higher level.

I don’t see the Dodgers making a move with any of their young talent. I think there will be some moves out of OKC for some back end relievers or younger talent like Lux-Sirota. Pretty scary for MLB that we’re doing this kind of damage without much starting pitching. I wonder if Roki could come back for some October bullpen duty? And yes, let’s get Frasso in the pen bc there is no opportunity to start for him, now or in the future.

There might yet still be a start or two for Frasso, or someone else, going forward. July/August heat hasn’t really started yet. I certainly anticipate an R&R need for Yamamoto, May… wait…

I am currently looking at the Fangraphs depth chart for the Dodgers and it shows only 4 starters, Yamamoto, Kershaw, May and Casparius.

We’re in the shallows now. And summer just started.

Good thing this team can score.

A first day of summer look at Dodger things:

Yes. A win.

But this was against the Nationals, a team that is recently reeling and for the season is among the worst in the league. They had 3 home runs and made it closer than it should had oughta been.

Our closer has an ERA of 3.79. He has looked better of late though, dropping that ERA from 4.73, but, hes a very expensive closer. Shouldn’t that ERA look more like it did for the 3 previous seasons?

Betts, 5 for his last 36 with 1 home run in the last month and his lowest OPS in his career. Is playing short wearing him down? Some (me) suggested it might. And it’s only now summer.

Pages an All Star? Yep.

Another Sports front page piece in the Times about how the Dodgers were the president’s toadies and have been ducking their social responsibility. Oh this is going to piss some people off. But, we’re adults here, right? Federal agents showed up at Dodger Stadium. Gulp. The Dodgers did however donate $1 million to immigrant causes. That might help.

Considering all of our injuries going 17 -12 is a really good record against the teams we played. It shows the depth and intensity the team knows how to play with.I am very happy with our team.I am though concerned about Mookie offensively.

If nothing else, the Dodger ownership knows how to make money. So whether they support ICE’s efforts and methods or not, this is a political football. And since about 40% of their fanbase is Hispanic it’s smart business to donate 1 million to immigrant causes.
It speaks more about smart business and less about a political stance.

Badger,

Life is great, and so is this organization. Don’t sweat the small transient stuff.

Don’t worry, the team will make the playoffs. The team has a chance to win it all.

Its all good.

It’s good, but it’s not ALL good. And, in my opinion a dearth of starters is not small stuff.

That said, I hear Snell and Glasnow are throwing again. The Dodgers should be fine when they return.

Good point. He should be at 5 innings by the time 100 degrees shows up around the country. July and August can be brutal playing every day.

Another solid performance from Kershaw. The HOFer continues to win. Hopefully only two more starts to get to 3000 strikeouts. And he is providing much needed consistency while the high paid, fragile starters rehab. Great job Clayton!

I think it’s going to be very interesting to see Kershaw’s role come playoffs.

I, who knows nothing, think his reduced stuff will get annihilated in the post-season, but how do you leave him out? Maybe he can be satisfied piggy-backing, but a #5 starter (behind Ohtani, Glasnow, Snell and YY) is frightening for a potentially consequential game.

Yikes.

If his stuff moves to the middle it’s frightening. Can’t see a place for him if big four are healthy in October

I have mentioned before that while Kersh has done a nice job in his return, I’m thinking he has value out of the bullpen in the right circumstance. One inning, one time through perhaps.
That decision will be totally dependent on the status of the starting staff come playoff time. Who’s available and who isn’t.

Staying in the moment, Kershaw is needed in the rotation and keeping the Dodgers in the game. He could get better and or might not be needed in the rotation down the road.

Also, Betts should be backing off from his demanding shortstop training, getting more rest, and start getting his bat mojo going.

Conforto any day now should be hitting or be part of a David Copperfield disappearing act.

Just saw the Dodgers starting lineup for tonights game. Conforto starting and Kim sitting again. Roberts is full of sh*t. Says Kim has earned more playing time and then sits him. Ridiculous.

Kim at 2B and Edman in the outfield. Conforto should sit. He sucks.
You have no way of knowing if Kim would have made that catch or not. No one does.

I’m thinking they will have patience with him until July. The Dodgers are 4 games up. They probably feel they are fine for now. Second half may be a different story.

Ohtani horrible AB in the 5th. Had a 3 & 1 count but swung at ball 4 on the next pitch, then struck out looking on the following pitch. It cost the Dodgers at least 1 run, because had he walked (as he should have), Edman would’ve advanced to 2B where Betts’ single would’ve scored him.

I haven’t been happy watching Shohei at the plate for a while. It’s almost like he’s forgotten how to bat. No bat to ball skill. Chasing bad pitches. Watching perfect strikes retire him. This move to the mound is not having a good effect on him, methinks.

May’s “reworked” throwing motion might keep him healthy and prolong his career, but it’s surely reduced the effectiveness of his “stuff.” He’s not what he used to be.
