Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle) 6 vs OKC Dodgers 3

The Rainiers scored 6 unanswered runs before the Dodgers scored their 3.  The loss drops OKC into a 1st place tie with El Paso (San Diego) with Round Rock (Texas) 1.0 GB.

Michael Grove was both ineffective and inefficient in his 3.2 IP.  He threw 74 pitches (46 strikes – 62%).  He did record 7 strikeouts but he also allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks.  He allowed a single run in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th before being relieved by Aaron Ochsenbein who got the last out.  Ochsenbein followed that up with a scoreless inning, and Danny Duffy did the same in his 1.0 inning.

Keone Kela continued to struggle with his control by allowing 2 walks and a single to score a run in his 1.0 inning.  Daniel Zamora and Beau Burrows each pitched 1.0 inning allowing a hit and recording a K.

Down 6-0 in the 7th inning, James Outman led off and drew a walk and Jacob Amaya was HBP.  Tomás Telis singled to load the bases setting the stage for a big inning.  Unfortunately, Devin Mann hit into a DP and OKC was able to only score one run.

In the 8th, Drew Avans was HBP that was followed by singles from Ryan Noda and Andy Burns, and an Edwin Rios sac fly to score 2.

Tulsa Drillers 14 vs Frisco RoughRiders (Texas) 2

Lael Lockhart allowed a single and issued a walk in the first inning.  With the 3rd out in the 1st, he retired 10 batters in a row.  In the 5th, staked to a 3-0 lead, Lockhart allowed a single and walk.  With 2 outs, Guillermo Zuniga relieved Lockhart and allowed a single to the first batter and one of the inherited runners scored.  This was the only run Lockhart was charged with after 4.2 IP.  This is becoming a trend with Dodger affiliate relievers.

Jose Hernandez, Keegan Curtis, and Jose Adames each pitched an inning to close out the game.  Curtis allowed an unearned run, while Adames allowed a single but struck out three to end the game.

The Drillers scored 15 runs on 14 hits.  The Loons took a 3-0 lead in the 5th, with the key blow a 2 run double by Leonel Valera.  They broke the game open in the 7th.  After 2 walks and a single to load the bases, Ryan January scored on a Valera ground out.  Justin Yurchak singled to score a pair.  Ryan Ward doubled (17) to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. and Andy Pages followed with a 2 runs single, and came around to score on a Kody Hoese single.  After 6.5 innings, the Drillers are up 9-1.

The Drillers scored 5 insurance runs in the 9th on 2 doubles, 3 singles, a walk and wild pitch.

The big bat belonged to Leonel Valera who went 3-5 with a double (12) and 5 RBIs.

Great Lakes Loons 0 vs West Michigan Whitecaps 4

All of the scoring was done in the 1st inning, and all done by the West Michigan Whitecaps.  Robbie Peto had 2 outs with a runner on first in the 1st inning when the roof caved in.  Two singles and a 3-run HR later, and Peto is down 4-0.  After another double, Peto finally got out of the inning.  Robbie was excellent the remaining 3.0 innings.

Ronan Kopp pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, while Reinaldo De Paula and Carlos De Los Santos finished the final 1.1 scoreless innings.        De Los Santos struck out both batters he faced.

The Loons had 3 hits with Kekai Rios getting 2 of them.
